Hi guys.. I was hoping to get an opinion on this match from someone knowledgable that is following closely right now. If you take a look at Zverev's results. He's lost in the second round of this tournament 5 times total, and 3 out of the last times playing the event. He's also had some fairly grueling matches at Indian Wells. However, I"m not sure if that's much of a factor. (only an idea) Felix seems to be back in form to me from what I saw.. He played a tight match vs Walton, but he's moving good also without knee tape, and hitting the ball enormous as well. I think his spin could give Zverev problems who doesn't seem to be full of confidence. One thing I do know. The betting line for this one is absolutely outrageous because Felix could easily win this match, and I would potentially even favor him to do so if forced to choose on a even line. Any thoughts?

In the last matches between them, FAA knew how to put up good stand and even win. Given that, as you yourself stated, Zverev does not have a good tradition in Miami, it would not be a surprise if it happened again this year. On the other hand, The German is in slightly better form than the Canadian.
This should be the last match on the schedule, and with the rain and storm issues, these two are going to be really pissed off waiting. I honestly don't know, literally anything is possible here.

Felix is probably most dangerous in controlled conditions. Zverev's history here is pretty good. 2 QF appearances and a finals. The years he's bowed out early were his teen years, against Ferrer, following a previous weeks tournament win and when he was recovering. These court conditions are great for Zverevs game. High percentage fast first serve, powerful ground strokes. Plus he practices on outdoor clay for the most part so has great consistency for a flat hitter and a knack for handling windy conditions. Felix spent a lot of his time on indoor courts being from Canada.
Consider their current forms. Zverev is 4-2 against the top 10 this year (4-3 if you consider his loss to De Minaur when he was ranked 12) Felix is 0-3 and has only won 1 set off Rublev and that's it. Felix will get his jabs in and yea, this is tennis where anybody can lose to anybody but from the chair I'm sitting in, Zverev wins this. He's playing excellent tennis right now.

you are not completely right about Zverev's record in Miami.
Last year he was eliminated by Daniel in two sets in the 2nd round, in 2022 by Ruud in three sets in the 1/4 finals, in 2021 again in the second round by Ruusuvuori in three sets, in 2019 by Ferrer in three sets also in the second round, In 2018 he played in the final and lost to Isner in three sets, in 2017 he was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Kyrgios in three sets, in 2016 by Johnson in the second round in three sets, and in 2015 in the same round by Rosol in two sets .
So, one final, two 1/4 finals and 4 eliminations almost at the beginning of the tournament in the second round. It's neither fantastic nor that bad. Some average.
I agree that Zverev is playing great tennis and I would like him to make some progress at the Grand Slam or the Masters. I love him as a player.

Yea… last year he was recovering, the early loss before that was because he won the tournament right before miami (fatigue likely) and the other early loss was to former world number 3, David Ferrer. Other than those three, he’s made two QF and a final in Miami. His first two years he’s like ranked 100th or something. In his early 20’s.
If you don’t think that’s a good history, we have different expectations of players. This guy’s made 5 grand slam SF’s, a final, won 6 masters and made loads of QF-finals including winning the tour finals and olympic gold. How much better does he have to be at age 23?
Outside of Djoker, Sinner, Alcaraz and medvedev, this is the best player. In fact, I think he’s better than Djoker now.
Felix has had one good half season run which came after the US open and other than that, he’s a top 20-40 player.
