Late Info NCAAF Pick - Utah State at Washington State
09/04 - 11:00 PM ET
Play: Available at Substack
Final Betting Analysis:
Utah State ... The Aggies are playing a Pac-12 opponent for the first time since 2016 (USC) and have lost their last eight matchups against Power Five programs, dating back to a 36-24 win over Wake Forest in 2014. The Aggies should be expected to run the ball right at Washington State and make the Cougars prove they are a different group than last year's model. Utah State brings back a great deal of experience on its offensive line and Peasley was the team's second-leading rusher last season. Oregon State transfer Calvin Tyler Jr. should add some juice to the backfield and the Aggies should at least be able to play ball-control on offense.
Washington State ... The Cougars have an 18-3 record at home in games played since 2017, including a 7-0 record against nonconference opponents during that stretch.
**Graduate transfer Jarrett Guarantano is expected to start for WSU in its season opener Saturday at home against Utah State, a source with knowledge of the situation said.
The Cougars are primed to go on the attack with Max Borghi — one of the best running backs in the Pac-12 — and fellow senior running back Deon McIntosh. Borghi weaved his way to 817 yards along the ground in 2019, while McIntosh had a solid 323 rushing yards in just four games last fall. Borghi also is a major threat out of the backfield, as evidenced by his 86 catches for 597 yards and five scores two seasons ago.
WSU returns 10 starters on defense led by senior linebacker Jahad Woods while senior running back Max Borghi and three-time All-Pac-12 second-team right tackle Abraham Lucas headline the eight starters who return on offense
