A time machine to go back to the year 1998 might be the easiest way to start.

No one is going to deposit with a new book they never heard of.

To answer your question, you probably need 25 million to start your own book from scratch.

It would be a lot easier to to become an affiliate for an existing book.  You use their software and lines, and give them a cut of the action.
