The Wolfpack are looking to bounce back after suffering a loss to ECU in their last outing. When they host Florida State, you can bet HC Tom O'Brien will have designed a plan up front and in the passing attack to slow down the FSU pass rush. Oklahoma set the blue print, having Landry Jones throw a lot of quick releases, hitting his receivers in stride, then letting them do the work. Jones finished 30 of 40 in that beatdown. One thing about Russell Wilson, like the Sooner attack, he can utilize a quick release. We had Oklahoma on these pages that Saturday afternoon and cashed the easy winner. Since then, FSU has won five straight, climbing into the nation's top-20. But this will be the best offense the Seminoles have faced during the run. After all, facing this year's version of BYU, Wake Forest, Virginia, Miami, and Boston College, is not going to toughen you up for offenses like Oklahoma's and NC State's. Then there's the home/road dichotomy of Christian Ponder. The FSU signal caller has played extremely well at home, but has barely topped a 50% completion rate on the road. He's facing a quick NC State pass rush with a banged-up offensive line in front of him, losing their starting ORG to injury. A RS-FR will start up front on Thursday night. Jimbo Fisher is turning the program back in the right direction. And 1st year DC Mark Stoops has his defense playing a more aggressive style. While those pass rushing schemes work against teams like Wake Forest and Virginia, they can be burned by an O'Brien coached offense at NC State. Like I said when FSU was getting only 7 points at Oklahoma - the Seminoles are getting too much respect away from home, much too quickly in the Fisher regime. I believe the same holds true in this one. The 'Noles are 2-8-2 ATS when laying between 3 1/2 and 10 points away from home. Meanwhile, the Pack are on a 13-3 ATS run off a bye week, and they're 8-0-1 ATS in the last meetings with the Seminoles. Upset alert in Raleigh. I'm taking the points with NC State. Thanks! GL! Scott.
