I'm sure i will get banned for this post, but don't really care! this is all truth!.
Re: post via Phillybown
Most of you who are following the blog will have done so after reading my picks on covers.com betting forums where I would post my picks and write-ups.
Lately the site started having a huge problem with spammers flooding the forums with threads offering weird shit like ‘black magic love spells’. The frustrating thing was there was so many of them that posts from regular members of the community were getting bumped off the first pages and no one would see the posts. I was one of the few posters on the site who would post a detailed analysis of my plays, not just the picks, so it annoyed me when they would get bumped down. So lately I stopped putting the write-ups on as there was no point, and I’ve been super busy lately as well.
Then, the powers that be decided that they were going to start remodeling the site. I HATE when sites do this – I like what I’m used to, and most other people on the site do as well. The new reply field on the site is not to my liking, nor is the look of the front page. I prefer the old way, and most other users do as well, but as of today the forums are changed forever. What I found most annoying was they pushed ahead with this redesign instead of working on stopping the spam!
But the real nail in the coffin for me was last night I posted a link to my blog and the post got deleted, and I was also given a ban. No explanation was given, no warning, and I wasn’t told how long the ban was for. Not that I care, because I planned on quitting the site anyway, but to me that’s just over the top. In my reading of the guidelines it said that links to paid sites were banned so I thought linking to a free site would be okay, guess not. Fine, it’s their site to do as they please but I would have thought a warning or explanation would be the correct course of action for a regular user – instead I got the same treatment as a ‘magic love potion’ spammer.
Of course, a big reason for this is that covers has their own tout service which they want suckers to use. I’ll have a big article soon about why you should never use touts, but anyway, I’ve heard from users that have paid for the ‘covers experts’, that their picks are not just mediocre, but actually hilariously bad. Useless, and they not only get people buried by their bookie, take people’s money for the picks they give that caused them to lose!
On top of that, most of their revenue comes from advertising from who – sportsbooks! So between having their own tout service and being shills for bookies, you better believe they don’t want a legit winner posting free picks that win. That hurts their bottom line.
Their relationship with bookies is why, when you see the ‘articles’ on their front page saying things like ‘this is who sharps are betting on this game’ or whatever, you should just completely ignore that – it’s rubbish that is there to benefit the books. Same thing with their ‘sportsbook ratings’. Do you know how you get to be the number one rated bookie on covers? Spend the most on advertising. That’s it. Don’t be fooled.
You’ll probably notice that almost any cappers who posted quality material on covers eventually left for one reason or another. They either got trolled, or they got banned. There are some people on there who are such losers that they go after anyone who seems to be doing well, getting a lot of views on their threads, winning, etc. Guys who clearly are a sandwich short of a picnic, and who aren’t very bright, so if someone posts a write-up they get jealous because they themselves can’t string more than 2 sentences together. And then as soon as the target of their jealousy loses a few games they begin attacking them with unreal vitriol, and the mods allow it. It hasn’t happened to me but it happened to scal and suuma who are both gone now.
Of course, any gambling forum is going to be a cesspool of hateful people. People who have lost loads of money but still continue to gamble and are locked in a spiral of addiction and really need mental help. That’s par for the course. But the other thing that is disappointing about the site is that even those that aren’t trolls usually just post picks with no analysis. For all the reader knows they just flipped a coin. Now there are some good posters but they are few and far between.
So anyway, I started the blog so people could find my picks and
writeups easier due to the spam on covers and so then covers banned me
for that while allowing the spam to continue. lol go figure. That’s
fine, fuck them! I won’t be going back to the site even when the ban is
lifted. You can find me here, all the picks are free, I don’t have any
relationship to sportsbooks, and any ads on the site are put there by
wordpress (ironically, to get the ads removed, I have to pay for the
premium plan, which I will do eventually, but I am still learning about
how to run a site, market it, etc.)
