Ok. I see all these people turning tout and the so-called "experts" selling their picks. Is it really worth buying picks? Is there really anybody out there good enough to follow and turn a profit or is it all just a sham?

I'LL say it one more time.........If the sellers of picks were so good at what they do.....They would make bets with their own money and easily win millions.....Therefore, there would be no need for them to spend most of their day looking for suckers to fleece

As you can see from my posts, I keep a low key Covers profile, posting on a VERY selective and limited basis. Nonetheless, your question intriqued me. Been betting sports from the time no casinos had sportsbooks in Vegas. My memory, now fading, remembers a place called the Kentucky Downs (I think) that was near the Stardust and the Sands taking sports bets in the early-mid 70's, someone may remember better. Stardust followed almost immediately and became the "local" wiseguys place. A trip down memory lane.
How does all realte to your question? I have used sports betting services (totes? I think that is what they are referred to in certain circles) many times over the tears with differing results. Most of the time I handicap on my own. Other times I handicap myself and use my picks in conjunction with the service. Lot's on conspiracy theories on strategies used by the services including giving half the clients one team, the other half of the clients the other team and collecting fees with a strategy of further milking the half of the clients that won.
I have used many of the "top" services including many very recognizable names. Mixed results. I have found two services over the last several years that I have had a solid win percentage and who really maintain a high standard due diligence on analyzing the games through their write-ups. Frank Sawyer of Hollywood Sports and Lenny Digenio.
Hope this helps, Good luck.

Covers loves the word tout but sports services have been around for decades. If you can't meet the source and have a phone number they answer then eliminate them immediately that gets rid of about 2/3 of the internet fools.

Buying picks is easier for the tools that gamble and don't research their own a guarantee so much the better most of em can't understand normal thinking and put their wager on plastic or worse loan afficians cause at the end of day a true gambler wins loss gives a 20% return and if its all gobbled by buy picks the juice on the cards or the debts to the man. They are as broke as a 51% win.. This is a business then treat it as so find an edge bet it take the money and reinvest accordingly. Run a cold deck then take a second job to get back into. The game on your own merits....

Google Deadspin's article about the touts at Pregame from late May or June 2016, and you will see the entire service is in the red. After that, I tracked Steamwire's MLB picks and they were under .500. So no, never pay for picks.
