Korea's Chance of Achieving Olympic Medal Goal Grows Slim
Korea's initial goal of achieving a top-10 finish for three consecutive Winter Olympics may not come to fruition, as it is in just 16th place with one medal of each color as of Sunday, some 10 days into the Games.
This is a sharp contrast from four years ago in Vancouver when the Korean team had already won four gold, four silver, and one bronze after around the same number of days, leaving it at fourth place.
Korea's official goal was to win four gold medals -- in the women's 500-m speed skating for Lee Sang-hwa; in the women's 1,500 m and 3,000-m relay in the short track skating with the team’s ace Shim Suk-hee;
