Why on earth do you get a second chance? It should just be the 3 group winners + #2 in the semis, this format is just straight up pathetic?
If people complain about the dunk contest format they should take a look at this, ha.
Ok, i may be bitter, because i bet on Finland to beat Czech republic head to head, and i thought i had actually won the bet now that Finland finished #2 with 7 points and Czech Republic finished with 3 points and then the bet was over. But look now...
Russia is gonna meet Finland in the semis.. 100% Russia will win here, doesnt matter that Finland has played the better hockey untill now, what matters is the fact that Russia is 100% gonna get a medal at this 2014 Sochi Olympics. Bet ur house on it that Finland will not be able to knock them out.
Czech republic is (when they beat Slovakia ofc) gonna meet USA which is a 5 times better match up for Czech republic than Russia is for Finland.
You are not even rewarded for playing good in the main stage of the game? Finland would be better off by finishing 3rd in their group because then they would go up against Sweden instead of Russia. Finland knows how to handle Sweden and Sweden havent looked strong despite winning their games, im more impressed with the Russian team.
I may be blinded by the fact i had money on Finland to beat Czech republic, and now theres a 68% chance that this will be a push and a 32% chance i will even lose it... lol.

Don't see anything wrong with it. Teams that don't get a bye are at a huge disadvantage.....if the teams who DID get a bye lose their first game, that's on them IMO. Being top 4 is still a BIG advantage and plenty of motivation for the first 3 games.

How do you even consider that Czech have a 5x better match-up playing the United States, then Finland has playing Russia...that doesn't even make sense??...
That basically means your saying that Russia is 5x better team then the USA. If you recall, the United States has already beaten Russia.?????
Plus, I actually love the format, yes I do agree that it sometimes means losing can actually be good for you into going into a playoffs because of who you might play....but that's no different then pretty much any other sport, it happens all the time. Also, in NHL playoffs you play a series to find out the winner. I believe, Olympics should be no different in this aspect, it keeps a really great team ie: Canada, USA, Russia from losing one match and then going out. I do understand, that its a much shorter tournament and upsets happen, but being a USA fan I actually love it, cause i believe it's going to be hard for an underdog team to beat them twice...going into the medal matches
