Mystics/Dream: The Factor for me is EDD. She is one of those players that you need when it comes to a buzzer beater, a player that you need who shows up during the crunch time. She was brought across from Chicago to Washington to win championships and last year wasn't their season but this season could be. For me, the Dream losing Angel was a HUGE loss. Hayes has been amazing but she can only take them so far. The Dream have height on their side, but not the shooters. The bad thing for the Mystics is Toliver. Can she be trusted? They missed Cloud for 3-4 games during the reg-season and her missing was a big loss but her being back just gets the offense flowing. Playoffs is when we see a 7-8 girl rotation and both teams lack bench movement but I would say the Dream have the Mystics covered in that category. Cullen is a new coach, Thibault is a veteran. This is a series that will most likely go the distance IMHO with the Mystics prevailing due to the fact that Dream has lost Angel and the Mystics having EDD. I wouldn't be surprised if we head back to Washington at 1-1 and then Mystics taking a 2-1 lead after game 3 and then the Dream really having to play hard to save the series.
Mercury/Storm
Storm! The season's most under-rated player which hasn't had much mention of MVP is Natasha Howard. She has had an amazing season but has been under shadowed by Stewart who is almost the MVP of the season if Cambage doesn't get it. Stewart deserves it because the Storm got 1st seed and the Wings are out already. The one thing that is detriment for Phoenix is their age and depth. I saw the other day, Griner, DT and Bonner scored 77 points combined the other night vs the Sun, which was a playoff record between 3 players but can they do that every game? No way. Hughes vs Brondello as well, advantage Hughes. Storm also has home court advantage. The Mercury has looked good recently but I feel as though the Storm wins this series quite convincingly, 3-1 most likely. The Storm starting 5 is just nuts, Stewart, Howard, Clark, Bird and Loyd. They are all playing top level basketball right now with no slowing down. The Mercury got past the Sun the other night thanks to a crazy finish in the 4Q but I don't think they can do that against the Storm. Storm have experience and also young energetic players where the Mercury will be relying heavily on the Bonner (who needs to eat a hamburger) DT and Griner combination. Griner and DT has played with each other almost a full calender year because they play along each other in Russia so that combination is fantastic but I think its when we see the Howard/Stewart combination really show up as Griner cannot handle both of them and has not supporting cast to assist her since Lyttle went down.
Mystics/Storm
All of the above, Storm wins.
I can't see any other team winner this championship. At the start of the season, I had the Sun winning and laid a bet because I got 25/1 odds which was just worth is value wise, that is now gone but if you can grab 2/1 odds for the Storm, its well worth it to try and double your money. It would be a nice way to send out Bird as well.
So that brings us to Mystics/Storm in the WNBA Finals.
