YTD: 34-29
Massive card, actually massive card for the next week with 4-5 games almost everyday, then rest day after each playing day.
Storm @ Sun
The Storm started off ok vs the Mystics but then got hammered 72-36 in 3 quarters of basketball. That's insane. Canada is the latest injury for the Storm and she is GTD for tomorrow. Sun look to be ok. The Sun didn't look good in the 2H, they barely made any baskets and the 2H of the game it seemed that more points were scored with free throws than baskets. The Sun should have put away the Mercury with ease but didn't. Bad signs for them. Storm only 8 games to go, they have 4 at home after this game and then 3 on the road. The Sun about to start a 3 game home stand with this game. Both teams very inconsistent this season. Played once this season, the Sun won 81-67 with a line of -9. The Storm were actually winning that game and then fell apart and the Sun took after late in the 4Q. Estimate the line to be similar, Sun -8.5 and total around 157
Sparks @ Sky
Embarrassing is the word I will use for the way the Sparks played in that 4Q vs the Wings yesterday. Awful. There is no way they should have lost that game against an 8 player team like the Wings. Ogunbowale went beserk, scoring 35 points and the Sparks had no answers for her. Now they face the Sky with no Lavender as she is out for the season. They have good enough players though to fill that void. That was the Sparks first road game in over 3 weeks and that was shown with their lack of effort and attention to playing simple basketball which they didn't. These 2 teams only played last week, in a thrilling high scoring match with the Sparks winning only just. The previous meeting before that the Sparks swept the Sky. Irrelevant stat but the Sparks are 15-2 S/U vs the Sky from 2015 onwards which is crazy. These 2 teams love playing fast basketball and I would think the same happens again. Estimation would be PK and total of 164
Liberty @ Wings
Not sure what to write about this game because I feel that the Wings are in a prime letdown spot after that amazing game vs the Sparks. You beat one of the best, and then lose to one of the worst? Wings handed the Liberty a royal pounding last outing, winning by 23 points. The Liberty are in chaos. Nurse MIA, Charles didn't show up last game and Allen tried to give them some kind of injection of motivation but didn't work. They will be without Durr and also Zahui B is questionable. I keep thinking to myself that this Liberty roster is a decent, playoff roster but they just can't get their act together which I believe is due to poor coaching and Katie Smith has to go soon. Since taking over, she is now 15-43 S/U. If you all remember, under Laimbeer the Liberty in 2017 finished top of the East, going 22-12 and since he left, they have just crumbled. Not sure which way to go for this game, the Wings will still be missing Thornton and Anigwe. Upon their return next game, Davis will serve her 1 match suspension. Estimate the line will be Wings -4.5 and total of around 154
Mystics @ Lynx
Mystics balling without Toliver, do they really need her? Nothing stopping that offense with some massive points of late. Scored 280 points in the last 3 games. Works out to be 2.3 points per minute which is insane. The Mystics have won and covered both games vs the Lynx this season and that doesn't happen often against Reeve. I think she maybe in a good spot tomorrow to at least cover the line if the line is right seeing that this will be the first road game for the Mystics without Toliver which is a different situation compared to the last 2 games on home with out her. The last game in Minny, the Mystics won 79-71 with the line of -5. The Lynx have a great chance of taking 6th seed if they can win tomorrow and the Storm lose to the Sun. Estimate the line will be Mystics -5 and total of 162.
Dream @ Mercury
Very tough to back either team. The Dream though surely wanting a win after going 0-10 in their last 10. Perfect time to get that win against a Grinerless Phoenix team. Surprised Mercury haven't gone to the WNBA for a exemption to sign more players. Taurasi apparently is coming back, but not Friday. Her latest injury isn't her back which she had surgery on, its a hamstring injury. They are running out of time and the only thing they have on their side is that they have some distance between 9th spot but these next 3 games without Griner are going to be massive. Give the Liberty and Fever a small hope of making the playoffs but both teams need to get their act together. Mercury were -7.5 in the last meeting in and won 65-63. Im thinking this line will be PK and 150.5.
Other news, A'ja Wilson plans to play this Sunday which is definitely needed to boost the Aces. Good time to come back with around 8 games left for them. Shenise Johnson is out for the season for Fever. Big loss of their bench. Sue Bird has no timeline still on her return this season.
BOL everyone.
