STD: 2-1 +1.50
I am sitting around with not much going on, so I'll put out my lines for tomorrow's games, to amuse myself and to cause great consternation among some fellow sports betting fans on covers.
As always, this comes with the disclaimer that I am not guessing what lines Vegas will put out, but using using lines of MY relative strength between the teams. AND, I've found that what I have in comparison to Vegas will vary, A LOT.
A day in advance in the W is a light year ahead of time, as there are MIA players all the time in the W for non-public injuries, overseas commitments, menstrual issues, etc, which may come to illumination after I've put these lines out.
So, here we go.....
1). Sky -4 Liberty 164
I still don't know why Candace Parker didn't play a minute in their last game versus the Dream. As long as Vandersloot is playing, no problem if the Sky's starting center, their starting power forward, their first person off the bench and their starting shooting guard are out, they still got the money. DeShields had her typical mediocre game versus the Dream and it is likely that she will always be a poor woman's Jewell Lloyd. Fortunately, everything else about the Sky is pretty efficient and I expect them to end the season in about 4th position behind the Storm, Aces and Sun. Copper is a player I really like.
It remains to be seen if Parker's presence as a good defender and being less than a gazelle getting up and down the court will cause the scoring of Sky's games to reduce from what it was in the past couple of seasons.
The Liberty's bubble got popped by the Mystics and it wasn't close. Still, if you'd asked anyone on the Liberty if they'd take 3-1 after four games, almost everyone would have said, "yes". After giving up 90+ last game, one can look at the lineup and not see any real good defenders that are getting minutes for the Liberty. When Howard returns, it should help their defense.
2). Fever +6 Mystics 163
Fever's new big is a 6 foot 10 rookie, and she can shoot. She could be very, very good for the Fever eventually,...she's better than McCowan already. The Fever could use something good to hang their hats on....losing Candace Dupree is gonna hurt this team this year. The Fever are capable of causing big upsets, but it is all predicated on Mitchell hitting her bombs which will cause a lot of volatility in the Fever results this season.
