Disappointing from the Sparks the other night vs the Mystics. Looked like a pro team vs a primary school team. Mystics shooting light outs.
We have 3 days straight of action coming up and some very important games. Liberty and Wings are one loss away from making the playoffs which we have known for a while now, they just don't have what it takes to play playoffs. So its all about seeding now. One thing I have learnt from capping this league is that you do not want to face Mercury with Taurasi. She is a veteran and shows up for the big games and the combination with Griner is just clockwork for them as they have played so many season together. Then little Leilani is having a career season, and she is just so quick and her shot is amazing, looking forward to her coming back home again and playing in the WNBL which starts in October.
Mercury @ Dream Hard to see the Dream putting up any fight but I dont' like backing teams that need to win especially with the line so big. You always get these teams that are eliminated showing up this late in the season. Dream had this game won the last meeting and then fell apart in the 4Q and Mercury took over, won the game and also covered. Mercury sit in 8th, but have 4 hard games coming up to close out the season with a game in Chicago followed by 3 games at home vs Storm, Lynx and Aces. They can still finish 5th but would need the Sparks and Sky to lose all their remaining games which I doubt. So their best finish is 6th with the Lynx holding that down right now with a 16-15 record. The Mercury are 14-15 so they have 2 extra games in hand but the Lynx owns the series at 2-0 with only 1 games left so the Mercury would hope that the Lynx lose more games (they might, Fever, Mercury and Sparks) so its not out of their sights. No injury concerns at all, guessing the line might be Mercury -8 and 158 total
Sparks @ Fever No words can describe how poor the Sparks were whilst the Fever was balling against the Aces. No idea why Laimbeer placed Plum off the bench. Strange to do that this time of the season. The Fever playing for hope, Sparks need to win and hold down 3rd spot. They actually would want 3rd spot because it means they miss the Mystics if the Mystics win the top seed. Sparks would play the lowest seeded winner from Round 1 in the playoffs and then they would face the 2nd seed (Sun right now) which they match up a lot better with. For this game, I would like to see what Fisher is going to do. The Sparks pulled the Fever apart the other night in LA, complete blowout and then Indy went to Storm and beat them with ease and came home and then pumped Aces. Its because of McCowan, she is beasting with points and rebounds. She made Cambage look like a rookie the other night. Anchowa is questionable for this game. Line should be Sparks -7 and 160
Wings @ Sky Another team hanging onto hope is the Wings but its pretty much over for them. The Sky coming off a loss vs the Lynx would want to back it up with a win here. The Wings will be missing Thornton for this game. The Sky are so good at home and just spreading the ball, the Wings on the other hand relying so much on Arike having a big night every night. The line should be Sky -9 and 155 total.
Other news, Laimbeer has signed Epiphanny Prince for the rest of the season. They always kept a roster spot open and Prince knows Laimbeer's systems so it should be a good fit but a little concerning as they only have 3 games left and now he is pulling her into the roster. Very strange to do it so late in the season. Time will tell.
BOL everyone, I actually might not play anything because this card is not the best card.

WOW, I never actually realised that McGee-Stafford was Javale McGee sister. Learn something new everyday.
Did the Dream literally just go 2-26 from the field in the 1Q? How is that even possible?
Dallas Wings @ Chicago Sky: Wings +11.5
Always very risking taking a side like the Wings that really has nothing to play for this time of season and the Sky are gunning for a top 4 spot (and even more so now with Sparks losing currently to the Fever). I just think that this line is a very points to high. No Thornton or McGee Stafford but I think we see the WIngs make a game of this. Both games this season the Sky have won, but Agler is a good coach and I think he can come up with a plan that keeps this game within 10 points.

For any of those who are capping the FIBA World Cup, come join me on the covers forum titled "other pro basketball". Should be a good WC with so many contenders now with USA not having their best team.

Nice call on DAL. Glad we were on the same side there. Should have sprinkled some on ML but cant complain. When Dolson gets over double your rebounds for your team you are in trouble.
