Mega Millions, a multijurisdictional lottery game in the United States, has awarded its first jackpot of 2025. A player from Arizona scored the winning ticket from Jackpocket Lottery, a subsidiary of DraftKings, and claimed $112 million in winnings.

"We are thrilled that an Arizona Lottery player won the first Mega Millions jackpot of the year and grateful to our network of 3,500+ retailers," said Alec Thomson, executive director of Arizona Lottery. "Through their efforts, the Arizona Lottery can fund vital programs and services that benefit communities throughout the state."

The win is the largest jackpot from a winning ticket since Jackpocket’s launch.

Customers have won 61 prizes priced at $1 million or more.

Jackpocket, an online lottery site, is available in 19 jurisdictions and offers lottery tickets for Powerball, Mega Millions, and any local state lottery games for players on its app.

Mega Millions jackpot hits $1.2 billion in California

The recent record-breaking win comes soon after the fifth-largest recorded win in Northern California. The player from the Golden State won an estimated $1.22 billion in the Mega Millions jackpot in December and was given the chance to take home a lump sum of $549.7 million or the entire jackpot in annual payments.

The biggest Mega Millions win, not involving Jackpocket, came in Florida in 2023, with the winner claiming a $1.6 billion prize. However, 2024 was not as successful for players, with the lottery ending the year with only four jackpot wins, its lowest since the game’s creation.

DraftKings' $750 million Jackpocket purchase

Last year, DraftKings, a digital sports entertainment and gaming company, acquired Jackpot Incorporated in a $750-million deal.

“We are very excited to enter the rapidly growing U.S. digital lottery vertical with our acquisition of Jackpocket,” Jason Robins, co-founder and CEO of DraftKings, said at the time. “This transaction will create significant value for DraftKings not only by giving our customers another differentiated product to enjoy but also by improving our overall marketing efficiency similar to how our daily fantasy sports database created an advantage for DraftKings in OSB and iGaming.”
