A sports data company has secured a partnership with a major legal sports betting operator.

Sportradar has announced an expanded partnership with BetMGM to provide the sports betting company with access to products and services that include official NBA optical tracking data. The official data, which is provided exclusively by Sportradar behind its deal with the NBA, will allow BetMGM to enhance its player prop markets, in-play wagering, and same-game parlays.

"Sportradar's league data has enabled BetMGM to enhance our product offerings since we first partnered with them in 2018," said BetMGM CPO Jarrod Schwarz. "We expect the upcoming NBA season to be outstanding and look forward to leveraging this data for years to come."

BetMGM bolstering its NBA markets for its online betting sites comes as the sportsbook broadens its reach internationally. In August, the company launched sports betting operations in the United Kingdom as part of its parent company’s plan to expand into international markets.

The NBA presents a promising opportunity internationally for both Sportradar and BetMGM with the league having a record 125 players who were born outside of the U.S. on team rosters.

Expanding portfolio

Sportradar’s deal with BetMGM adds to the company’s growing list of recent partnerships.

In July, Sportradar extended its partnership with Caesars Sportsbook to also provide the Las Vegas-based retail and online gambling operator with access to NBA optical tracking data.

A month later, U.S. Soccer announced a pact with Sportradar to provide the data company with exclusive rights to collect, license, and distribute the federation’s official betting and media data. The partnership includes the rights to data both in the U.S. and internationally. Sportradar has also received exclusive distribution rights for live AV streaming of international competitions.

Huddle — a technology provider — is also leveraging Sportradar’s services. Earlier this month, Sportradar and Huddle agreed to a partnership to improve Huddle’s online betting odds feed. Sportradar and Huddle aim to optimize pricing strategies for prop and micro-betting markets.
