After inaugurating their partnership last season, the Canadian Elite Basketball League has announced that BetVictor is returning for a second season as the official sports betting partner of the league.
Among the newly touted additions to the partnership extension, CEBL fans can expect a more integrated betting feel across social media platforms, as well as a brand new weekly CEBL betting show to launch across CEBL+ – the league’s proprietary streaming service – and the league’s social media channels.
“Over the past year, our partnership with BetVictor has not only delivered unique and entertaining engagement options and experiences for our fans but also enhanced our CEBL brand on a global scale,” CEBL commissioner Mike Morreale said. “We look forward to building on that and providing even more personalized and innovative sports betting experiences for basketball fans and fans of the CEBL through BetVictor in 2024.”
The domestic Canadian league, now entering its sixth season since beginning play in 2019, is also set to once again feature BetVictor as a presenting partner on its CEBL+ broadcasts, allowing Canadians to freely access and watch all of its live broadcast CEBL games.
“2023 was a record-breaking year for the CEBL in terms of attendance and viewership and similarly, more Canadians than ever made BetVictor their choice for a safe and responsible betting experience,” BVGroup CCO Brent Almeida added. “This news underscores our commitment to supporting Canadian basketball and engaging with passionate fans of the sport and we are proud to be a part of the CEBL’s impressive growth.”
CEBL continues to see growth, progression
BetVictor, meanwhile, while less prominent than some of the other more front-facing Ontario sports betting options, continues to see growth in the Canadian markets since entering the fray in late 2022.
That expansion has aligned in many ways with the fledgling CEBL, which for a second year will feature nationally broadcasted games on TSN, expanding from 20 to 50 nationally broadcast games throughout the summer including the playoffs and Championship Weekend from Aug. 9-11.
Founded with the express purpose of expanding and developing the Canadian basketball talent pool, the 10-team league is set to tip off on Tuesday in a nationally broadcasted matchup between the Calgary Surge and their provincial rival Edmonton Stingers. The league also reportedly features nearly three-quarters of its talent as Canadian, including players with professional experience in the NBA, NBA G League, and International Pro Leagues, as well as top NCAA programs.
