DraftKings Opens First PGA TOUR Location Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale

Considering that Scottsdale is already renowned as a favored destination for snowbirds, DraftKings' new venue is likely to remain bustling throughout the entire year.

DraftKings opened its TPC Scottsdale sportsbook to the public on Friday. The 13,000-square-foot facility is the first legal sports betting location to open at a PGA Tour stop.

The first bet placed at DraftKings’ newest sportsbook — by none other than former Arizona Cardinals All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald — was on Jon Rahm to win the 2024 WM Phoenix Open. The wager seemed appropriate, especially with TPC Scottsdale set to host the PGA tournament in February, and Rahm being a former golfer for Arizona State.

As good as Rahm is, Fitzgerald’s bet might be a nailbiter. Scottie Scheffler has won back-to-back titles at the WM Phoenix Open in 2022 and 2023 and is currently favored to win again in 2024 according to online betting sites.

Regardless of the winner, sports bettors will likely have a memorable experience at DraftKings new facility, which features 3,400 square feet of video walls, indoor and outdoor dining, 32 kiosks, seven betting windows, and booths available for group rental.

“It’s an exciting day and we’re thrilled to celebrate the opening of the DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, a location that showcases the special collaboration between DraftKings and PGA TOUR while featuring a number of customer-centric amenities true to the DraftKings brand,“ said Jason Robins, DraftKings’ CEO and Co-Founder. “We look forward to welcoming in locals and visitors to experience DraftKings in a new way and enjoy the unmatched service and dining experience.”

It was only a matter of time

This unique sportsbook was first announced back in 2021 between DraftKings and the PGA. DraftKings broke ground on the facility last December.

This is hardly the first sportsbook located within a sports venue. For instance, DraftKings already has a sportsbook at Wrigley Field. Meanwhile, FanDuel has a sportsbook at the United Center, while Caesars owns real estate at both Capital One Arena and Citi Field.

DraftKings’ TPC Scottsdale sportsbook, however, will have an advantage over its arena and ballpark counterparts. Unlike most sports venues, which only attract foot traffic during a league season — and only when the home team is in town — golfers are in and out of TPC every day.

The facility also plays host to many events and private parties. And given that Scottsdale is already known as a go-to destination for snowbirds, the DraftKings’ TPC Scottsdale location should stay busy year-round.
