Fanatics and the Connecticut Lottery announced Monday that a new retail sportsbook is coming to the state.

The partnership announced the opening of a new location at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Fanatics now has 14 retail locations across the United States, and the Fanatics Sportsbook is live in 16 states for online sports betting.

Details for the new digs

The new location at Total Mortgage Arena will feature more than 2,300 square feet of entertainment space complete with betting windows, Suzohapp self-service betting kiosks, and high-definition TVs all around the sportsbook. It will also have a full-service restaurant and will be open 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, including days when arena events occur.

The Connecticut Lottery runs nine other retail locations around the state, and Fanatics recently upgraded all of those with new signage, enhanced odds screens and brand-new self-service betting kiosks.

The other retail books are located at the XL Center in Hartford, Bobby V’s in Stamford and Windsor Locks, Sports Haven in New Haven, and Winners in Hartford, Manchester, Milford, New Britain and Waterbury.

Customers can earn FanCash by creating a mobile account on the Fanatics Sportsbook or by signing up for a free Fanatics Player Card at a retail counter. Every bet earns 5% back in FanCash, which can be used for bonus bets or team merchandise at the Fanatics online store.

Changes to the overall Connecticut sports betting landscape

This announcement comes just three months after the Connecticut Lottery tapped Fanatics as its exclusive provider of mobile and retail sports betting in Connecticut.

Connecticut’s sports betting regulations only allow for the lottery and two tribes - the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes - to partner with online sports betting sites to offer mobile sports betting in Connecticut.

The Connecticut Lottery had initially joined forces with Rush Street Interactive and launched the PlaySugarHouse sportsbook when the Nutmeg State went live with legal sports betting in the fall of 2021.

FanDuel and DraftKings dominate the Connecticut sports betting market in partnership with their respective tribes. Rush Street Interactive and the Connecticut Lottery had announced their collective plan to wind down their existing collaboration in March 2023, opening the door for the lottery to find a new partner.

Fanatics started accepting bets from a limited number of customers in a soft launch on Dec. 12, taking only 2,000 new customers for the Fanatics Sportsbook mobile app before the full rollout on Dec. 18.

In its first full month of operation in the Connecticut sports betting arena, the Fanatics Sportsbook came in at just 6.5% of the statewide handle with $12.6 million in total wagers, while FanDuel raked in $96.5 million and DraftKings $84 million.

Its February handle didn’t change much either, coming in at $12.4 million while FanDuel’s was $79.6 million and DraftKings’ $63.4 million.
