[Update 7/15]: BetMGM has also removed the ability to place bets on the U.S. presidential election from its Canadian website.

Canadians looking to wager on the U.S. presidential election have fewer places to do so — at least, for the time being.

FanDuel Canada has opted to suspend all U.S. election markets in light of Saturday’s attempted assassination of former President and 2024 odds-on favorite Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, PA.

It isn’t immediately known whether FanDuel Canada will reinstate its US election odds at some point in the future. When asked by Covers.com, a FanDuel spokesperson repeated the company's initial statement while adding: "At this time, FanDuel has no further comment."

BetMGM has also removed the U.S. presidential odds markets from its website. As of this writing, the company has not released an official statement on the matter.

Bettors in Canada still have a number of legal options for betting on the U.S. presidential election, including DraftKings and bet365.

Trump, who had his ear grazed by a bullet in the shooting, has built considerable momentum in the latest U.S. presidential betting odds, installed as the -250 favorite as of Monday afternoon (equivalent to an implied probability of 71.4%). Incumbent Joe Biden is next at +500, followed by Kamala Harris at +800.

Two people, including the shooter, were killed during the assassination attempt, which came just two days before the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. The FBI is investigating a potential motive, while Biden has ordered an independent security review.

Trump is also reportedly expected to select his running mate Monday. The latest U.S. vice presidential betting odds have North Dakota governor Doug Burgum as a +110 favorite.
