Pennsylvania police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a FanDuel Sportsbook location in King of Prussia, Penn.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, saw two hooded and masked men enter the casino and demand money at gunpoint from the FanDuel location. When that failed, however, the individuals made off with a tip jar containing just over $100.
Notably, the sportsbook is reportedly right near the entrance to the casino.
The suspects eventually drove off in a white Jeep Cherokee, with two others involved and considered suspects.
"It was shocking," one casino patron that regularly places bets at the FanDuel location told Fox News 29. "I couldn’t believe it because I’ve never seen that happen in a casino."
Boyd Gaming in Las Vegas, the owners of Valley Forge Casino, also released a statement to ABC6 Action News on the incident pointing to the ongoing investigation.
“Given that this matter is the subject of a law enforcement investigation, we must defer to law enforcement for any comment or additional information. Thanks for your understanding." the statement said in part.
There were no reported injuries.
Opened in partnership with the popular sports betting company in 2019, the FanDuel section of the Valley Forge Casino, provides 1,800 square feet with seven betting windows and 27 television screens, according to a release from Valley Forge Casino.
Pennsylvania became one of the first states to legalize sports betting back in 2018, and in 2023 reported a record haul for the gaming industry at nearly $5.7 billion in revenue.
