The fun part about Super Bowl Week each year are the predictions and forecasts many have, not only on the game and prop betting itself, but how much money casual fans and serious bettors will wager on in each state.

H2 Gambling Capital (H2), a leading supplier and aggregator of global gambling sector data, released their official overall numbers and expected wagering numbers by each state on Monday, Feb. 4 and the amount is staggering.

H2 expects legal, regulated betting handle in the United States to reach at least $1.6 billion. This year, the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs look to three-peat for the first time in NFL history against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans (6:30 p.m. ET).

The Big Easy hosts the 59th edition of the single, largest sports betting event for the 11th time and wagering numbers will be record-breaking according to H2. New York should generate close to $181 million in handle alone, edging out Nevada ($177 million) for the highest. Florida ($126 million), New Jersey ($120 million), and Illinois ($113 million) round out the top five.

In 2024, bettors wagered an estimated $1.14 billion through legal sportsbooks throughout the U.S. Kansas City repeated as Super Bowl champions against the San Francisco 49ers, up from $1.10 billion in 2023 for the first meeting between the Chiefs and Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

The company expects a 17% increase in Super Bowl wagers this year. As of this month, there are 38 legal sports betting states (plus Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico), with mobile sports betting available in 30 states.

AGA estimates

Bettors will legally wager nearly $1.4 billion on Super Bowl LIX in the U.S., according to the American Gaming Association (AGA), who released their estimates Tuesday.

Overall factors

With Missouri entering the sports wagering marketplace last year and North Carolina eligible to wager on its first Super Bowl since launching in March 2024, numbers could grow past the estimated figures being talked about.

This year, sports bettors have actually won at the windows and in their mobile accounts. Just last month, FanDuel-parent company Flutter Entertainment reported this NFL season “has been the most customer friendly since the launch of online sports betting with the highest rate of favorites winning in nearly 20 years."

One thing is certain, Sunday will make for one busy day and evening. Good luck and remember to bet with your head, not over it!
