Sometimes, the stars align for a bettor, particularly when they’re least expecting it.

A California man won $481,941.71 at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa playing Wheel of Fortune. Even more improbable, the bettor, identified simply as Krispin S. from Sacramento, won the progressive jackpot at 2:35 a.m. on Thursday.

The win marks the latest of a series of major takehomes off the extremely popular Wheel of Fortune Machines in Las Vegas, which are approaching 30 years of operation after debuting in 1996.

On Dec. 17, a $1.4 million payout was won at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas on a $9 bet, while back in July, a whopping $2.1 million was won at Palms Casino Resort on a $3 bet.

Other major gaming wins

While Krispin S. will no doubt be enjoying his winnings, it pales in comparison to last year’s biggest win back in August.

An astonishing $6.4 million progressive jackpot on BetMGM casino became the largest win in online casino history, with the win going to an unnamed figure from New Jersey.

Another player with Hard Rock Casinos also walked away with an improbable win late last year after winning $136.8K just hours after downloading the app, winning on an 80-cent bet.
