The largest mobile wagering market in America saw its online sports betting sites take a step back this week.
The New York State Gaming Commission reported that the Empire State had a legal sports betting mobile handle of $321.3 million for the week ended April 16, down from $343.2 million for the week prior.
Despite the decrease in mobile handle, New York generated $43.2 million in gross gaming revenue during the week compared to $12 million for the previous week. Sports betting in New York is taxed at 51% — one of the highest tax rates in the United States.

FanDuel — the No. 1 sportsbook in America in terms of market share at 50% — continued to reign supreme in New York. The betting operator reported a mobile wagering handle of $136.2 million for the week, down from $142.5 million for the week ended April 9.
FanDuel saw its mobile handle take a drop but the sportsbook generated $22.1 million in gross gaming revenue for the week — up from $6.8 million for the week prior.
DraftKings emerged as New York’s second-ranked operator in terms of mobile handle for the week ended April 16. The sportsbook had a mobile wagering handle of $101.9 million, down from $106.3 million for the week ended April 9. However, DraftKings’ grossing gaming revenue reached $14.2 million, up from $2.9 million for the previous week.
Caesars finished third in New York for the week. The operator, which went live with sports betting in the Empire State last January, reported a mobile wagering handle of $40.8 million, down from $41 million for the week prior. Caesars posted $3.6 million in gross gaming revenue for the week after only $178,679 the week before.
BetMGM rounded out the Top 4 in mobile wagering handle. The sportsbook reported a handle of $21.4 million — down from $32 million for the week ended April 9. BallyBet had the lowest mobile handle in New York at $375,017 for the week.
