It's of particular note because Petit-Frere is an active player preparing for his third game of the season against the Green Bay Packers, and because the 25-year-old was suspended for six games in 2023 for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.
Petit-Frere was suspended for betting on non-NFL sports at the Titans facility during the 2023 offseason, violating the league’s policy against gambling at a team venue.
“The NFL plans to announce another round of sanctions regarding its gambling policies and I will be included in this group of players receiving a six-game suspension. The betting I engaged in was NOT NFL-related and was legal under Tennessee law. It is only being sanctioned because it occurred at the Titans facility,” Petit-Frere said in a July 2023 statement. “I did not knowingly break the rules. Even after attending a league presentation, I was unaware about the specifics around placing bets from a team facility.”
Poor public perception
Despite being hired as a fantasy football expert at a fantasy football company, Fantasy Life’s bio on X also includes “betting content,” creating poor public perception surrounding Petit-Frere’s hiring.
It doesn’t help that the Titans’ starting right tackle has been surrendering pressures to quarterback Will Levis through two games of the 2024 NFL season. Levis has been sacked seven times and Tennessee has opened the season 0-2 after 24-17 losses to the Chicago Bears and New York Jets.
Petit-Frere was a third-round draft pick out of Ohio State in 2022.
