PlayStar Casino has announced a partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL)’s New Jersey Devils and their home arena, the Prudential Center. The collaboration aims to elevate fan engagement and enhance brand visibility throughout the 2024-25 NHL season.
PlayStar will offer exclusive fan experiences and sponsor the “Golden Goal Sweepstakes” promotion in exchange for brand exposure through online communications and during home games.
The “Golden Goal Sweepstakes” promotion is set to run all season long, offering a $10,000 cash prize. Fans must enter a submission in the Golden Goal contest for the chance of being randomly selected to win if a goal is scored between the 11:00 and 10:00 minute mark of the second period of any Devils home game.
Later in the season, the companies plan to introduce ice hockey-themed casino games that would enable PlayStar customers to compete for tickets to future games and events at the Newark stadium.
“Through our sponsorship of the ‘Golden Goal Sweepstakes’ promotion and our extensive presence at Prudential Center, we’ll be able to position the PlayStar brand in front of a highly engaged online casino audience while also offering new and existing customers alike the chance to win VIP home game and concert tickets as well as many other money-can’t-buy experiences,” PlayStar’s chief marketing officer Jon Bowden commented.
The Prudential Center will feature PlayStar Casino branding in in-game graphics and public address announcements at the arena, expanding its exposure to the New Jersey market. The casino launched in New Jersey in 2022 through a market access deal with Atlantic City’s Ocean Resort Casino. PlayStar Casino continues to fare well against other New Jersey online casinos, with recent results for August 2024 revealing more than $2.3 million in revenue. However, the casino has yet to expand its operations to other states.
“Having already made such significant in-roads into the competitive New Jersey market, PlayStar is thrilled to announce that it will be partnering with the New Jersey Devils to bring even more locally-focused benefits to our players,” added Bowden.
The Garden State has been home to online casinos since November 2013, when it became the second iGaming state behind Delaware. The state is now home to around 30 online casino operators, including Caesars, BetMGM, FanDuel, and others.
NHL 2024-25
The Devils opened the 2024-25 NHL regular season on Friday with a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres during an NHL Global Series game held in Prague, Czech Republic. The regular season will continue through April 2025, marking the 108th season of operation and the 107th season of play.
The Devils have a storied history, ranking 17th overall in NHL history with more than 1,500 regular-season wins. Since their establishment in 1982, the team has won three Stanley Cups, securing championships in 1995, 2000, and 2003. Captain Nico Hischier and All-Star Jack Hughes are aiming to build on the team’s success after the Devils recorded their best regular-season record during the 2022-23 season.
