Angels vs Yankees Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

The New York Yankees will remember how to score again tonight. Yes, it's been bleak lately for the Bronx Bombers, but Game 3 of their series against the Los Angeles Angels deems promising.

This has become a storyline as the New York Yankees — shut out for 27 straight innings, matching their total World Series championships — look to break the drought tonight against the Los Angeles Angels in the third game of their four-game series.

We flagged the Yankees as overvalued last night and capitalized on it with our best bet at a nice +205 price point. Tonight, however, presents a much different scenario. With a clear edge on the mound for the Bronx Bombers, I expect them to bounce back and avoid a second straight sweep.

My Angels vs. Yankees predictions break it down here as I bring you my MLB picks when the two teams meet on Wednesday, June 18.

Angels vs Yankees prediction

My Angels vs Yankees best bet: Yankees team total Over 5.5 (-105 at bet365)

If the New York Yankees fail to score tonight, it would mark the first time in franchise history they've been shut out in four straight games.

That's a staggering reality for one of baseball's oldest and most storied teams—founded back in 1901. Yet, after being blanked in three consecutive games for the first time in ten years, that's precisely the history this group is now on the brink of making. It's directly in front of them, just nine innings away. Manager Aaron Boone expressed his point of view pretty plainly after yesterday's loss.

"It's always shocking to see our group not score runs, especially a few days in a row now," Boone said following the game.

Luckily for them, they are in an excellent position to avoid this feat tonight, and I'm betting on them to break through in a big way. My best bet is the Yankees team totaling Over 5.5 runs, as I expect a strong response following a team-only meeting led by multiple veterans following yesterday's loss.

Jack Kochanowicz will take the mound for the Los Angeles Angels amid a bad season (0-3 and 7.36 ERA in his last five starts) and a poor history against New York. The only team he has faced in his career came earlier this season in May, where he allowed four runs – although he did give some nice length at right around six innings. In the comforts of Yankee Stadium, I think today could be even more rocky for the righty.

Indeed, the Yankees' offense has been struggling all around, but some of that has been matchup-induced. I've noted that in the past two game previews, how they've faced back-to-back starters who were supremely good at limiting hard contact. That's not the case for Kochanowicz, as he's the type of pitcher the Bombers thrive against.

He'll come into this game with major hard-hit issues. A hard-hit rate in the bottom 5% of baseball. A barrel rate in the bottom 25% of baseball. And, to make matters worse, a walk rate that's in the bottom 24% of baseball. That's particularly troubling when facing a team in New York who, despite this terrible run, have the highest walk rate in the bigs.

There's also the matter of a team that still ranks in the top five in BABIP, with a hard-hit rate and barrel rate due for significant positive regression after such a poor spell of offensive play. You couldn't ask for too many better pitchers to exercise the early series demons out on. I'd play this to my fair price of -142.

Angels vs Yankees same-game parlay (SGP)

Yankees team total Over 5.5

Aaron Judge Under 1.5 bases

Aaron Judge to record a run

Aaron Judge over 0.5 walks

Let's get creative.

Because of the Yankees's hard-hit rate across the board and Kochanowicz's struggles, I'm expecting Aaron Judge to find himself at the plate amid multiple high-leverage situations. And because of that, I'm not sure there's going to be much of a willingness to pitch to him.

I attempted to incorporate that into this same-game parlay. Kochanowicz has already walked Judge in two of his three career matchups against him – the other, he got a single. If that happens again today, then we'll be in a perfect position to capitalize on this opportunity. I think the game flow will give it a good chance.
