The Texas Rangers put a rough stretch behind them in style with last night’s 15-2 win over the Oakland A’s, and they’ll look to build on that explosive hitting display in tonight’s rematch.
And while a pair of three-run doubles from Adolis Garcia and Wyatt Langford blew the game open yesterday for Texas, snapping a three-game skid, my A’s vs. Rangers predictions expect veteran starters Luis Severino and Nathan Eovaldi to bring more control here.

A's vs Rangers prediction
My A's vs Rangers best bet: Under 8.5 (-115 at Caesars)
The Texas Rangers’ fireworks at the plate last night — 15 runs on 18 hits — made it easy to forget this lineup’s major power outage over the past two weeks. Heading into yesterday’s contest, Texas had scored two runs or fewer in seven of its last 10 contests.
So even after breaking loose in the second game of this series against the Athletics, that trend is hard to ignore. Paired with the potential for the in-form Nathan Eovaldi to cut through this A’s lineup, it makes the Under an attractive play tonight.
The numbers back that up. The Under is 9-1 in the Rangers’ past 10 games, including six in a row, and 21-9 overall this season. The hosts have nailed the team total Under in 21 of those 30 matchups, and now they come up against Luis Severino, who’s allowed just five earned runs across his last three outings.
Meanwhile, the A’s are allowing 5.30 runs per game this year, but they’re not scoring in bunches lately. The visitors have been held to three runs or fewer in four straight contests — and despite 16 total hits, they’ve only plated four runs so far in this series.
Perhaps that shouldn’t be a big surprise. These teams have leaned towards lower-scoring battles in recent years, too, with the Under proving to be a winning ticket in five of their last seven meetings.
With two experienced pitchers on the bump tonight, look for the bats to struggle to make an impact at Globe Life Field.
A's vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)
Eovaldi has looked sharp so far this year, posting a league-leading 0.74 WHIP and a 2.21 ERA, and he pitched six scoreless innings against the Giants on Friday. I’m taking the Over on this strikeouts prop for my SGP, with the 35-year-old recording seven Ks in back-to-back starts.
I’ve covered the A's offensive struggles above, and the visitors haven’t gotten going in this series. They were blanked until the seventh inning last night as Texas pulled away and Jacob deGrom and Dane Dunning combined for 10 punchouts.
A drop down the order from the lead-off spot has done wonders for Marcus Semien, who drilled three singles from the No. 5 hole in yesterday’s victory. That makes it six hits in his last four games to rebound from an ice-cold start and pull his average up to .178.
Though he’s 3-for-18 in his career against Severino, I’m backing Semien to have productive at-bats here, with 12 of his 19 hits this year coming at Globe Life Field. He’s been largely dealing in singles, so I prefer the Over on his total hits rather than total bases.
