HR picks for May 14

Byron Buxton 1+ home run (+360 at DraftKings)

Byron Buxton is managing to stay healthy, and he’s having a respectable campaign, batting .264 with nine home runs and 26 RBI.

He’s swung the bat very well against the Baltimore Orioles, who the Twins face today in a doubleheader. This pick will focus on Game 1 with the struggling Dean Kremer on the hill.

While Buxton hasn’t had a ton of success against Kremer in particular, he’s 5-for-10 in three games vs. Baltimore with three long balls. Buxton has left the yard in three of his last seven appearances as well.

He’s also hitting just under .270 on the road, and Kremer has already surrendered eight homers in 2025. Buxton could continue his success against the O’s.

Javier Baez 1+ home run (+800 at DraftKings)

Javier Baez is undoubtedly one of the best stories in the big leagues.

After falling off a cliff over his first few years with the Tigers, he’s back in business in 2025. The veteran is hitting .319 with five home runs, and he just went deep twice in Tuesday’s win over the Boston Red Sox. Both were three-run bombs, with one coming in the bottom of the 11th to win the game.

The former first-round pick has all five of his homers in the last 10 games. He’s really heating up, and Tuesday’s performance is only going to fuel him more.

The Red Sox sent Hunter Dobbins to the mound, who has pitched extremely well this year. But he’s never faced anyone in this Detroit lineup.

Baez is still going to be feeling that confidence from the walk-off. He could keep it rolling in the series finale as the Tigers look to bring out the brooms.

Bryce Harper 1+ home run (+475 at DraftKings)

While Bryce Harper isn’t having the greatest campaign with a .232 average and just seven home runs, there’s reason to believe he could smack No. 8 today in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cards hand Erick Fedde the ball, and Harper has made his life a nightmare. The slugger is 11-for-22 lifetime with six home runs and nine RBI.

Harper has truly dominated Fedde, and that does mean something in baseball. Expect Harper to string together some hits, and my MLB picks believe one of them could potentially land in the bleachers.

  1. Bryce Harper, Phillies (+475)
  2. Kyle Schwarber, Phillies (+390)
  3. Aaron Judge, Yankees (+210)
