There’s a playoff preview feel to this series between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, and we get the latest installment this afternoon at Dodger Stadium.

After extra-inning nail-biters on Monday and Tuesday, New York bagged a 6-1 victory last night behind more Pete Alonso fireworks, but my Mets vs Dodgers predictions signal a better day at the plate here for a stacked L.A. lineup.

Read on for my MLB picks for this marquee June 5 clash.

Mets vs Dodgers prediction

My Mets vs Dodgers best bet: Dodgers F5 TT Over 2.5 runs (-115 Caesars)

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ bats haven’t hit their usual heights in this series, but there’s no reason for panic with an offense that leads the majors in runs, home runs, and batting average.

Instead, I’m picking Shohei Ohtani & Co. to rebound in style today in this showdown of division leaders.

New York Mets starter David Peterson is off to a nice start this year, posting a 2.69 ERA and holding the Dodgers to two runs in 7.2 innings of work back on May 24. But a quick glance at the larger sample size confirms that this is a rough matchup for the New York lefty.

Take your pick among the L.A. big guns – they’ve all had success against Peterson. Mookie Betts is 4-for-14 with a pair of doubles, Ohtani is 5-for-14, and Teoscar Hernandez is 3-for-10 with a homer. Miguel Rojas is 7-for-16, and Freddie Freeman has crushed two dingers in this head-to-head battle. Given those track records, there won’t be many easy outs for Peterson.

That spells trouble for the Mets, and I like this price for the Dodgers to get 3+ runs on the board through the first five innings. Even in yesterday’s loss, they had base-runners in four of the first five innings but just failed to find the clutch hits to make them count.

In contrast, L.A. stormed out of the gate on Tuesday with four runs in the bottom of the first, and, with danger men up and down the order, the hosts are well placed to make a similar statement start here.

Mets vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)

Dodgers F5 TT Over 2.5 runs

Dodgers moneyline

Alonso 1+ RBI

I’ll double down on a bounce-back effort from the Dodgers by adding the moneyline to my SGP. Sure, the Mets are 8-2 in their last 10 games, but L.A. is 22-11 at home this season, and a win today would secure a series split for the hosts.

This pick is also a vote of confidence in Landon Knack, who’ll take the ball for the Dodgers this afternoon. Knack has faced the New York Yankees and the Mets in his past two starts, allowing just one earned run in each contest. He’s logged a 3.12 ERA across his last five outings, and I’m already wagering on the L.A. offense providing him with some wiggle room.

A Pete Alonso prop feels like a must-have choice given his recent dominance at the plate. He’s served up seven RBIs in this series – taking his June tally to 10 already – and I’m grabbing the odds for The Polar Bear to drive in another run today.

He’s tied for second in the big leagues with 53 RBIs this year, and he’s 2-for-4 against Knack, including a round-tripper against the Dodgers righty last month. Whether it’s via the deep ball or as a by-product of hitting behind Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto, Alonso is one of New York’s likeliest sources of runs. Don’t even think about changing the channel when he’s in the batter’s box.
