The Yankees have been red-hot at the dish and my favorite MLB player props for today are counting on another big performance from one of their most reliable sluggers.
I'm also betting on Orioles All-Star Gunnar Henderson and underachieving White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi with my MLB picks for Friday, August 2.
MLB props for August 2
- Henderson Over 0.5 RBI (+145 at bet365)
- Benintendi Ovver 0.5 hits (-170 at bet365)
- Soto Over 1.5 total bases (+120 at bet365)
Today’s best MLB props
Prop bet #1: Gunnar Henderson Over 0.5 RBI
Gunnar Henderson didn't produce at his usual sky-high rate in July but the young superstar should be able to get his bat going tonight. Henderson is 23rd in the majors with 66 RBI and batting third in the Baltimore Orioles' high-scoring lineup will be extremely favorable to him against the Cleveland Guardians.
Cleveland is sending Carlos Carrasco to the mound and the aging veteran has been awful, pitching to a 5.68 ERA with an OBA of .283 through 19 starts. Henderson is in the top fifth percentile in hard-hit rate and exit velocity, and he'll have the platoon advantage against Carrasco.
It also helps that Progressive Field has the third-highest humidity of today's games and the sixth-shallowest right field fence which will benefit the left-handed Henderson. This is a five-star prop according to THE BAT X, which projects 0.8 RBI for Henderson today.
Prop bet #2: Andrew Benintendi Over 0.5 hits
Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi is batting just .203 this season but there's plenty of reason to think he'll pick up a hit tonight. Keep in mind that Benintendi's xBA is significantly better at .250 and he had a solid batting average of .279 over the last three years.
He'll also have the platoon advantage today against Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan. Benintendi has owned Ryan in his career, going 7-17 at the dish. With Benintendi getting a hit in five of his last six games, don't hesitate to eat the -170 chalk on this wager.
Prop bet #3: Juan Soto Over 1.5 total bases
The Toronto Blue Jays are sending Kevin Gausman to the mound and he's struggling this year, pitching to a 4.44 ERA with an expected ERA of 4.85 through 21 starts. he does a solid job of making batters miss but when he gets hit, he gets hit extremely hard. He ranks in the Bottom 15th percentile in hard-hit rate, the Bottom 20th percentile in exit velocity, and the Bottom 10th percentile in barrel rate.
That's bad news against a New York Yankees lineup that has been red-hot at the plate. Juan Soto is fifth in the majors in slugging percentage (.593) while ranking sixth in total bases (232). He also performs better at home where he slugs .606 and when he faces right-handed pitchers (.615).
Soto has been on fire, slashing .340/.441/.691 over the last 30 days, and he has a history of mashing against Gausman. He's gone 7-for-13 with a homer and a double against the Jays hurler in his career.
