76ers vs Wizards Game 3 Picks and Predictions: Back Beal for Buckets

Bradley Beal has been one of the NBA's top scorers all season, and has scored 33 points in each playoff game so far. He'll be counted on in a must-win game for the Wizards.

Betting trend to know

Against the spread (ATS) pick

If Russell Westbrook is on the injury report in a playoff game, it’s likely that Washington’s star is dealing with some serious pain. Considering his competitive nature, it’s hard to imagine he will ultimately sit this one out. However, you’ll want to make sure that you are keeping tabs on his status. If he’s out, it’s going to be very difficult for the Wizards to hang around. The drop-off in talent from Westbrook to Raul Neto is massive.

Assuming Westbrook is in the lineup in this game, the Wizards actually make for a nice underdog play. While Game 2 got out of hand, Washington kept things extremely close in Game 1. It should be easy to replicate a performance like that in front of a big crowd that is hungry to see some playoff basketball. We’ve seen some big-time home performances throughout the course of these playoffs, and you can expect Westbrook and Bradley Beal to feed off the energy of the fans. Also, Philadelphia’s role players will likely be a bit worse in a hostile environment, putting more pressure on guys like Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris.

Something else that plays into Washington’s favor is the fact that the team is 34-15 against the spread when coming off three consecutive losses to the same opponent under head coach Scott Brooks. Look for him to really dial in his adjustments and give his team a fighting chance to bring this series a bit closer.

PREDICTION: Wizards +6.5 (-110)

Over/Under pick

Since Doc Rivers arrived in Philadelphia, 15 of the 19 road games the 76ers have played when coming off at least one Under have gone Under the total themselves. The average total score in those contests was 214.1, which is well under tonight’s 227.5-point total. Don’t be surprised if this game is similarly low-scoring. Not only does Philly want to rely on its defense to win basketball games, but Washington knows that it needs to be a lot better on that end of the floor, too.

The Wizards aren’t going to be able to stay competitive if they’re letting the Sixers shoot 55.7 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from deep, which is exactly what Philadelphia did in Game 2.

PREDICTION: Under 228 (-110)

Player prop pick

Beal is averaging 33.0 points per game in this series, and it was actually back-to-back 33-point performances that got him to that number. That means that Beal would have hit this Over in both games, and there’s a really good chance that he comes through in Game 3.

With Westbrook banged up, the Wizards are going to be relying even more on their go-to scorer. Beal is banged up himself, but that shouldn’t matter much. He knows what’s at stake here, and he’s going to go out and do his job as well as he always does.

PREDICTION: Bradley Beal Over 32.5 Points (-106)
