Hawks vs Celtics Prediction, Picks, and Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

With the potential for a Celtics blowout over Atlanta and Jrue Holiday also coming off an emotional matchup against his former club, we expect the All-Star guard to take a backseat in Boston's offense tonight.

The Boston Celtics bring their winning ways back to TD Garden as they're set to host the reeling Atlanta Hawks tonight.

Boston is a big favorite and that means the Celtics could get up large and rest their starters in the second half. That includes veteran Jrue Holiday, who could be due for a letdown game following an emotional matchup against his former team.

My Hawks vs. Celtics predictions break down why we're fading the two-way guard, as I dive into my latest NBA picks for Tuesday, November 12.

Hawks vs Celtics prediction

My best bet
Jrue Holiday Under 14.5 points (-120 at bet365)

My analysis

Following the Boston Celtics’ 113-107 statement win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, Boston guard and former Buck Jrue Holiday told the media he held no resentment toward Milwaukee for trading him before last season.

That said, Holiday really wanted that win and showed it on court — not just in the 15 points and the eight 3-point attempts he took, but on crucial plays down the stretch. He knocked down two late free throws, grabbed a steal off Damian Lillard, and snatched a huge offensive rebound that extended a Celtics’ possession in the final minute.

Holiday and the C’s are now giving 15 points to the Hawks at home, which doesn’t present the same intensity as that trip to Milwaukee last weekend. A potential blowout and a likely letdown from Holiday have me leaning toward the Under for his points prop tonight.

Boston thumped the Atlanta Hawks 123-93 on the road on November 4 and starters were limited in the second half, with Holiday playing only 24 minutes.

NBA player projections range from 12.1 points to 14.1 for Holiday tonight, with the bulk of models sitting below 13 points. My forecast sits at 12.5 points, which should have the Under of Holiday’s points prop priced closer to -200.

And those numbers are based on an average of 31 minutes — a mark in floor time Holiday may not hit considering the game script.

Hawks vs Celtics same-game parlay

Jrue Holiday Under 14.5 points

Dyson Daniels Over 1.5 threes

Celtics moneyline

Holiday may not log his normal minutes but is facing his tallest point total of the season.

With so much firepower out of action for Atlanta and a big spread on the board, Dyson Daniels will get extra touches and force attempts from outside the arc.

The Celtics sometimes sleepwalk as big chalk, so we’ll stay simple and take the champs to win outright.

Hawks vs Celtics spread and Over/Under analysis

• Boston opened as a 15-point home favorite and that lofty spread has stayed steady, with Atlanta playing without Trae Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and De'Andre Hunter. According to Covers Consensus, 53% of picks are taking the points with the Hawks.

• This total opened as high as 236.5 but took early Under money and that’s hacked this number down to as short as 224.5.

Jayson Tatum is a game-time decision after injuring his ankle but playing through the pain on Sunday. Al Horford is also on the injury report, listed as questionable with a sprained toe.

Hawks vs Celtics trend

Boston has been a favorite of 15 points or more in 13 games the past three seasons, going 11-2 SU but just 5-7-1 ATS (42%). Find more NBA betting trends for Hawks vs. Celtics.
