Nets vs Jazz Picks: Utah's Depth Too Much For Shorthanded Brooklyn

Regardless of who suits up for the Nets, they will have to contend with a Utah Jazz squad that has a deep rotation of 3-point threats and will be happy to be back on their home court.

NBA sharp money and line movement report

By Patrick Everson

Utah opened -6.5 at PointsBet USA and is all the way out to -11 as of 5 p.m. ET, with Brooklyn looking shorthanded once again. Still, the Nets are taking 64 percent of spread tickets, while the Jazz are drawing 70 percent of spread dollars. The total tumbled from 233.5 to 228.5 by this morning, then rebounded to 230.5 and is now 230, with ticket count 2/1 and money 3/1 on the Over.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

James Harden was listed as questionable against the Blazers on Tuesday, but he ended up playing and looked like his usual self. However, with the way players take nights off nowadays, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they decided to rest him on the second night of a back-to-back.

Brooklyn is dealing with all sorts of availability issues right now, but the most important thing for this team is that the stars are healthy come playoff time. With that said, you’re going to want to check out the injury updates in this game leading up to the tip.

Regardless of whether or not Harden plays tonight, the Jazz are still a strong play in this one. While Utah is no longer playing at the elite level that carried it to the West’s best record early in the year, the Jazz have still won three of their last four games. They’re also coming off of five consecutive road games, so they should have some renewed energy on their home floor.

Overall, the Jazz represent a difficult challenge for the Nets. Utah’s entire rotation is loaded with three-point shooters: The team has seven players that play real minutes that shoot at least 36.3 percent from deep, and the group now faces a Nets team that can occasionally be porous defensively.

On the other end of the floor, Rudy Gobert is an elite rim protector, capable of making things difficult for Harden in the paint – if he ends up playing – and Utah will likely throw Royce O’Neale on him on the perimeter, who is a rock-solid option defensively.

PREDICTION: Jazz -8.5 (-110)

Over/Under pick

This is one that is going to require some attention, as it’s unlikely the Nets will be able to make much happen offensively if Harden doesn’t play.

However, if he does take the court, the Nets should be able to put up a decent number of points—any Harden-led team can.

On the other end, the Jazz should be looking forward to facing this Nets team. Utah has the personnel to really put up a big number in this one, so don’t be surprised if Quin Snyder’s group does most of the heavy lifting in a game that ends up being high scoring.

PREDICTION: Over 232.5 (-110)

Player prop pick

Gobert has been a man possessed throughout the course of March. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 4.1 blocks per game this month, and it’s not exactly a small sample size either.

The big man has done this over an eight-game stretch, and he now gets a crack at the undersized Nets. This streak is eventually going to end, as it’s simply not sustainable, but it’s worth riding at the moment.

PREDICTION: Rudy Gobert Over 2.5 blocks (+106)
