The Washington Wizards will try to break a six-game losing streak as they host the Brooklyn Nets at Capital One Arena on Monday night.
Washington and Brooklyn have two of the least effective offenses in the league, so I’m taking the Under in my Nets vs. Wizards predictions tonight.

My analysis
With so many reasons to back the Under, it’ll be hard to keep this section to just a few hundred words. I’ll try to stick to just the major points.
These are two of the most inept offensive units in the league. Washington has the worst offensive rating in the NBA (105.3), while the Nets come in at 27th (108.5). Brooklyn ranks second worst in points per game (104.9), with the Wizards averaging just 108.1 ppg despite attempting to play at a relatively fast pace. There has been no point in this season when these two teams have posed a real danger to opposing defenses.
The situation is even worse on both sides here in late February. The Washington Wizards moved Kyle Kuzma (15.2 ppg for Washington) at the trade deadline, removing their second-best scoring threat from the lineup.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been without leading scorer Cam Thomas (24.7 ppg) since early January, and he won’t be returning to the lineup tonight. With Dennis Schroder (18.4 ppg for the Nets) and Dorian Finney-Smith (10.4 ppg in Brooklyn) both off the roster, this team is now extremely short on scoring options.
Perhaps if these two teams were both committed to running the ball up and down the court, we might still see some offense in Washington tonight, but the Nets are the slowest team in the NBA, ranking dead last in virtually every pace metric and having the fewer possessions of any team in the league. So not only will these teams struggle to be efficient, they won’t have many opportunities to score, either.
I try not to overrate recent trends, but some numbers are impossible to ignore. Brooklyn has hit the Under in five straight games and 12 of its last 13 outings. Washington isn’t as extreme, but it has hit the Under in each of its last two games, playing to totals of 205 points or less in each of those contests — including a 110-90 loss to the Magic, one of the few teams that emulate Brooklyn’s sluggish pace.
All signs point to a real slog for anyone who watches this game tonight. If it wasn’t yet obvious, I’m taking the Under.
Nets vs Wizards same-game parlay
The Under is the best bet for tonight’s game, but I think we can also safely add a bet on the Nets to win outright in our same-game parlay. Brooklyn may have been upset by Washington the last time they played, but the Nets have won four of five since then (and seven of nine overall) and are a borderline play-in team — while the Wizards are suffering yet another long losing streak and simply don’t have the talent to expect to win tonight.
On that note, I’ll also take Washington shooting guard Jordan Poole to score Under his total of 20.5 points tonight. Poole is the leading scorer for the Wizards and gets even more opportunities to lead the offense now that Kyle Kuzma is playing for the Bucks. Yet he still struggles to get to the 20+ point mark, having done so in just one of his last four games. With the Nets likely slowing this game to a crawl, I’m taking Poole to come up short again.
