An eight-game night in the NBA includes a showdown between the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder, pitting two of the league’s best young stars against each other in Cade Cunningham and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

While SGA is in the midst of an otherworldly season and likely en route to his first MVP award, it’s the Pistons point guard that features in my NBA picks for Saturday, March 15.

NBA player props for March 15

Cade Cunningham Over 26.5 points (-120 at bet365)

It’s crunch time for the Detroit Pistons, who sit sixth in the Eastern Conference — just clear of the line for the play-in tournament. Detroit looks set to make its first postseason appearance since 2018-19, but they’ll need a strong finish.

Fortunately for the Pistons, Cade Cunningham has stepped it up down the stretch and is on pace for his highest-scoring month of the season. The former first-overall pick is averaging just under 30 ppg in March (29.3) and has seemingly taken it upon himself to get this team into the playoffs.

Cunningham is coming off a 38-point outing against the Washington Wizards on Thursday and has posted Over 27+ points in each of his last six contests.

While the Thunder lead the Western Conference standings, their defense has looked beatable over the last couple weeks. OKC is giving up 117.3 ppg since the All-Star break, so Cade should have plenty of chances to break through and put up another high-scoring game.

Coby White 25+ points (-135 at bet365)

Speaking of playoffs, the Chicago Bulls find themselves holding on to 10th place in the Eastern Conference — the final spot for the play-in tournament — and that’s largely due to the efforts of Coby White.

The Bulls have won four straight entering play with White and Josh Giddey leading the charge, as the duo has combined for more than 52 ppg in March. However, Giddey is doubtful for tonight’s game with an ankle injury, which puts even more pressure on White to carry the offensive load.

White has averaged 31.3 ppg during Chicago’s four-game run and 29.3 ppg overall in March, scoring 25+ points in five of his last six.

He’s always been a good scorer but White has taken that role to heart this month as we’ve seen his field goal attempts jump from about 15 to 21.5 per game. Not only have his attempts taken a big bump, but White’s also been finding the right spots as he’s shooting just under 50% from the field in March.

Assuming Giddey is out, Chicago’s second-highest scorer is Kevin Huerter, who’s averaged 13.8 ppg this month, so I think it’s safe to assume we’ll see another high-volume approach from White tonight.

Zion Williamson Over 23.5 points (-115 at bet365)

It’s rare that the New Orleans Pelicans are a favorite, let alone on the road, but that’s what happens when you take both Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox out of the lineup for the San Antonio Spurs.

If the Pellies are going to pick up the win, though, they’ll need another strong showing from Zion Williamson, who should be poised for a big night against one of the worst defenses in the NBA.

The Spurs are giving up 116.5 ppg this season (23rd), but that number has jumped all the way up to 124.9 since the All-Star break — the worst mark in the NBA. Unsurprisingly, that coincides with the loss of Wembanyama, who last hit the court at the All-Star Game.

Williamson has been a consistent producer when healthy, scoring 20+ points in seven straight games and nine of his last 10. The power forward leads New Orleans with just under 24 ppg in March and is one of two Pelicans players scoring 20+ ppg this month, so I expect him to get plenty of chances to run it up.
