Tyus Jones was one of the most underrated pickups this offseason, and he'll rack up the assists with so many capable scorers around him.

The Los Angeles Lakers handled their business on opening night with a 110-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Phoenix Suns won their opener 116-113 in overtime against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

Phoenix got solid play from Tyus Jones, and my Suns vs. Lakers predictions expect him to excel as a passer again.

Read my NBA picks for Friday, October 25 to see why you should bet the Over on his assists prop.

My analysis
This one truly feels like stealing, as Tyus Jones’ assists line can be had for even money, despite his prolific passing and phenomenal facilitating. I’m hammering the Over on this line, and this is not only my favorite wager of the game; it’s my favorite wager of the entire Friday slate.

The Phoenix Suns’ addition of Jones in the offseason was a home run for a team desperately in need of a true PG. Devin Booker played well at point last season, but he’s a score-first guard, and running as the floor general is not his natural position. Jones is a pass-first guard who showed how well he could play if given a starting role in 2023-24.

Jones averaged a career-high 7.3 assists across 29.3 minutes for the Wizards last season. He finished on a tear, averaging 9.9 dimes across his final 27 and dishing at least seven in 20 of those.

He hit the Over on this line in 34 of 66 appearances and handed out 11 dimes in his only matchup at Los Angeles. Jones logged a healthy 35 minutes in Wednesday’s overtime victory, and he finished with eight assists. Additional playing time should benefit his assist numbers in Phoenix.

He’s got a plethora of options to dish to, including the big three of Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, and he should have no issue hitting the Over.

Suns vs Lakers same-game parlay (SGP)

Tyus Jones Over 6.5 assists

Anthony Davis Over 41.5 points+rebounds+assists

Kevin Durant Over 33.5 points+rebounds assists

Anthony Davis was incredible in Tuesday’s win over Minnesota, posting a monster 36/16/4 line to lead his Los Angeles Lakers to victory. Davis averaged a healthy 40.8 PRAs last season and hit the Over in 42 of 76 games. That included two of three at home against the Suns.

Phoenix got off to a rocky start with its interior defense on Wednesday, allowing Clippers’ starting center Ivica Zubac to go off for 21 points, nine boards, and three dimes. The Lakers should continue to funnel their offense through Davis, and I’m all too happy to bet the Over.

KD averaged 29.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in five games against the Lakers last season, and he hit the Over on this prop in four of those.

Durant has typically gotten up for matchups against LeBron James. Since the 2014-15 season, Durant has played James 13 times in the regular season and hit the Over in 10 of them. He posted 25 points and seven boards Wednesday, uncharacteristically finishing without an assist.

I expect him to be better on Friday and cash the Over in this divisional matchup with James.
