SEC Conference Tournament analysis
3/17: The No. 4-seeded Auburn Tigers managed to avoid the craziness of the SEC's upset-filled bracket. The Tigers opened the tournament as the No. 2 option (+250) behind No. 1 Tennessee and captured their first SEC title since 2019 with a win over No. 6 Florida (opened +1,600).
Previous SEC Conference Tournament action
3/17: St. Patrick's Day just got a little more fun with SEC fans all geared up to see who takes home the banner. After an insane Friday that saw upset after upset, Auburn and Florida won their semifinal matchups to book their ticket to this game. The Tigers are currently 5.5-point favorites over the Gators.
3/16: Friday was a bad day to be a favorite in the SEC, with just one top seed advancing from the four matchups — including the felling of No. 1 Tennessee. The games weren't particularly close either; with every win coming by double-digits, putting the conference in flux and making the Auburn Tigers the new favorites to lift the SEC crown.
3/15: We finally get to see the top-heavy SEC powers in action, with Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky, and Alabama all between +150 and +525 to win.
The No. 1-seed Vols have the easiest quarterfinal matchup on paper, sitting as nearly double-digit chalk vs. Mississippi State. The other matchups saw Auburn open at -7.5 against South Carolina, Alabama -3.5 vs. Florida, and Kentucky a 5.5-point favorite against Texas A&M — the most motivated team remaining as a win would go a long way to strengthening its March Madness resume.
3/14: No surprises in the opening round of the SEC tournament, as the higher seeds — and favorites — won in Arkansas and Georgia.
Neither of those programs is expected to get past today's second round, with Arkansas opening -6.5 vs. South Carolina and Georgia at -8 vs. Florida.
The overall tournament favorites, however, still aren't in action yet, as No. 1 Tennessee (+140 to +190), then Alabama, Auburn, and Kentucky — all 6/1 or shorter — get another day off until Friday's quarterfinals.
3/13: The SEC tournament tips off this evening, and while we won't see any of the big dogs play today — or tomorrow — we are getting an idea of who the public seems to be backing.
The Volunteers are the clear favorite, based on the odds, with Auburn firmly in second — but BetMGM is reporting that it's Kentucky who sits as their biggest liability, receiving a whopping 66.2% of all tourney outright handle, and more than half of the total tickets among SEC teams... and is the second-most popular conference tournament champion pick among all the conferences.
The Wildcats, who are the No. 2 seed and sit in the 4/1 range to win, will also begin their SEC title quest in Thursday's quarterfinals, facing the winner of No. 7 Texas A&M vs. No. 10 Mississippi.
3/10: Tennessee enters the tournament with the top seed, but barely. South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky, and defending champion Alabama all finished within a win of the Volunteers in SEC play.

The SEC was pretty tight at the top. The Tennessee Volunteers finished with the best conference record at 14-4 but four other programs wound up with identical 13-5 records within the SEC.
Alabama can conceivably make a charge in the tournament for a second straight conference title and third in four years with the third-overall seed.
Mizzou's fall from grace is truly remarkable. After finishing fourth in the conference with an 11-7 SEC record (25-10 overall) in 2023, the Tigers didn't win a single game in 18 tries within the conference this year.

Aside from a four-year run of UK winning, SEC supremacy now seems to reside in Tuscaloosa, where the Alabama Crimson Tide have now won two conference tournament titles in the last four seasons.
