The Pittsburgh Panthers will try to climb back above .500 mark when they travel to Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Pitt will try to rebound from a thrashing handed to it by Clemson, while Georgia Tech is coming off a loss to North Carolina State, and has dropped four of its last five overall. The Panthers are laying 6.5-points, but have covered just once as favorites. Can they change things this week?

Here are our best college football free picks and predictions for Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech, with kickoff scheduled to get underway on Thursday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m.

Betting Trend to Know

There is a total bet trending for this matchup. The Over is 7-0 in Pitt’s last seven games overall and is 6-1 in Georgia Tech's last seven games as a home underdog. Find more NCAA betting trends for Pittsburgh vs. Georgia Tech.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

The monstrous defensive line is the engine that runs this Pitt team, but it has been night and day for the Panthers when quarterback Kenny Pickett has been healthy. Against schools not named Clemson, Pittsburgh is 5-2 when Pickett is starting, and those two losses have come by a combined two points.

Pickett is completing 62.4 percent of his passes for 2,212 yards with 12 touchdowns and eight interceptions (four of those picks came against Clemson last week). Pickett has also added another seven scores on the ground.

Pickett and the Panthers face a Georgia Tech defense that is getting torched by the passing game, allowing nearly 280 yards per game through the air. That ranks 114th in the country.

On the other side, Georgia Tech will have its hands full with one of the best defensive lines in the country. That devastating Panthers defensive line leads the country in sacks, and stuffs the run game to the tune of 2.8 yards per attempt.

The Yellow Jackets also have a problem with turnovers, ranking 124th in the country in giveaways per game. That’s just one too many knocks against Georgia Tech in this one, and getting the Panthers at less than a converted touchdown seems like a good bet.

PREDICTION: Pittsburgh -6.5 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

The total for this game is currently on the board at 51.5 and that seems a little low for a game that is trending towards the Over.

As mentioned, the Over has cashed in Pittsburgh’s last seven games thanks to the Panthers averaging 28.5 points per game this season, and giving up 31.4 points per game over that seven game-stretch.

Georgia Tech is led by dual-threat QB Jeff Sims. The freshman has thrown 1,643 yards with 11 touchdowns and 11 picks. He also leads the Yellow Jackets in rushing with 478 yards and five more scores on the ground. He helms a Georgia Tech offense that averages 24.3 points per game, but that grows to 28.6 points at home.

Pitt has had a little more trouble with mobile QBs, and Sims should be able to do just enough to send this one Over.

PREDICTION: Over 51.5 (-110)

Team Total Prop Pick

As mentioned, we're getting better numbers with Pittsburgh thanks to Pickett. While Pitt averages 28.5 points per game, that bumps up to 32.9 when Pickett is playing, and they face a Georgia Tech team that allows over 37 points per contest. Pitt is a good bet to go Over its team total.

PREDICTION: Pittsburgh Team Total Over 29.5 (-115)
