Week 9 ATS picks

Texans vs. Jets
Jets Jets -2

I picked against the New York Jets in each of the last two weeks since acquiring Davante Adams, and I've been on the money. This week, we'll back them at home vs. a Texans side riddled with injuries offensively. Sooner or later, the Jets are going to win one... why not on Thursday at home?

Cowboys vs. Falcons
Falcons Falcons -2.5

I know this game boils down to who we trust more between Dak Prescott and Kirk Cousins, but with the way the Cowboys offense has been playing, Cousins should be able to take advantage. The Falcons are the more talented team from top to bottom, and this is a game they need to win in order to keep their momentum going.

Dolphins vs. Bills
Dolphins Dolphins +6.5

I picked against the Dolphins last week and got it right, so why the sudden change of heart? Well, the offense looked much better with Tua Tagovailoa than I thought it would, and the run game appears to have corrected itself. Do you know who stinks at stopping the run? The Bills. Give me the Dolphins plus the points.

Raiders vs. Bengals
Raiders Raiders +7.5

Just when you thought the Cincinnati Bengals might be taking a few steps forward, they go and lay a clunker. The absence of Tee Higgins was felt, and the Raiders are plucky enough to keep this within a touchdown.

Chargers vs. Browns
Browns Browns +2

The Chargers may enter this game off a lopsided win vs. the Saints, but with Jameis Winston under center, the Browns offense is actually competent. Given the injuries to the defensive side of things for LAC, I'll take the Browns for the second straight week.

Patriots vs. Titans
Titans Titans -3

The Patriots did well last week to beat the Jets, and backing the Titans seems like a dumb idea, but this is the first road game for the Patriots since the end of September. I'll take the home side to get the job done.

Commanders vs. Giants
Commanders Commanders -3.5

There's no denying the Commanders got extremely lucky last week to beat the Bears, but they're still the better team in this matchup. The Giants are among the worst teams on both sides of the football and laying less than a TD feels right.

Saints vs. Panthers
Panthers Panthers +7

Plug your nose and take the touchdown with the Panthers. If you can find +7.5, even better.

Broncos vs. Ravens
Ravens Broncos +9.5

On paper, there seems to be only one way to play this game, and that's the Ravens -9.5. However, the Broncos defense is among the best stop units in the NFL, and I expect them to be able to contain the Ravens offense. Throw in the fact the Ravens have a short week, and there's plenty of potential for a back door cover.

Jaguars vs. Eagles
Eagles Eagles -7.5

The main question everyone seems to ask is, "Are the Eagles good?" The better question (in my opinion) is, "Were the Eagles ever bad?" And the answer is no. They are finally healthy and should have no issues slowing down this awful Jags side.

Bears vs. Cardinals
Cardinals Cardinals -1

Maybe there's some recency bias here, but I don't think the Bears are capable of going on the road and winning this football game. Yes, Caleb Williams has played well since a lackluster start, but the Cardinals are much better at home, and I believe that'll be the difference here.

Lions vs. Packers
Lions Lions -3.5

For as much love (pun intended) as the Packers are getting, the Detroit Lions' offense is humming, and I don't see a blizzard in the forecast. Take the Lions.

Rams vs. Seahawks
Rams Rams -1.5

The Seahawks have plenty of issues and the Rams enter with some momentum and the rest advantage. I'll take Matthew Stafford & Co. to pick up another win.

Colts vs. Vikings
Colts Colts +6

The Colts are much better off with Joe Flacco under center (crazy, considering it's 2024), and catching six points against a Vikings team that hasn't looked good the last month or so is too good to pass up.

Buccaneers vs. Chiefs
Chiefs Chiefs -9

The Buccaneers may have looked okay without Chris Godwin and Mike Evans in the lineup, but they weren't facing a Top-2 defense. The Chiefs will score plenty, and the Bucs won't be able to keep up.
