The NFL season is back and with it comes the glorious return of Sunday Night Football, as Week 1 odds feature Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys hitting the road to do battle with "Danny Dimes" and the New York Giants.

Both teams made the playoffs last year — with the former continuing their 25+ year streak of being unable to get past the divisional round — while the latter surprised the football world by making the playoffs in year one of their regime change and picking up a playoff win in the process.

And now in 2023, this pivotal Week 1 NFC East showdown could have season-long implications. We're here to dissect the matchup and find some SNF odds to attack for Sunday's nightcap.

Cowboys vs Giants SNF props

Prop bet #1: Next man up

Dalton Schultz is no longer in town and the Dallas Cowboys starting tight end is now Jake Ferguson, a fourth-round pick from last year who tallied just 19 receptions for 174 yards. Those kinds of numbers may discourage you from backing him on Sunday night, but if that is the case, you should reconsider.

Ferguson's prop is at a measly 24.5 yards, a number that Schultz eclipsed in 10 of 17 games last year. Dallas didn't do much to add to their tight end room in lieu of Schultz's departure outside of drafting Luke Schoonmaker in the second round this year, but Schoonmaker should have a backup role and take a massive backseat to Ferguson as a passing target.

Dak Prescott has favored his tight end in years past, so Ferguson should see a good amount of love on Sunday night. Heck Prescott has already shown love to Ferguson, saying Ferguson is "close to becoming a big-time guy".

Jake Ferguson prop: Over 24.5 receiving yards (-110)

Prop bet #2: Conservative approach

Speaking of Prescott, he is worth examining as well for Sunday. His passing yardage prop is set at 243.5 and that may be a touch high when taking everything into consideration.

Under former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, the offense was more up-tempo and explosive than it had been in the years prior to his arrival. Although last year saw some dialing back of that aggressiveness, Prescott still surpassed that 243.5 mark in eight of the 12 games he played last year.

But with the dismissal of Kellen Moore and the installation of Mike McCarthy taking over playcalling, we may see a more conservative offense from the Cowboys. In fact, in the offseason, McCarthy went as far as to directly say "Kellen wants to light the scoreboard up, but I want to run the damn ball so I can rest my defense".

Mind you, this was coming off of a year in which Dallas ranked sixth in early down run rate.

Dak Prescott prop: Under 234.5 passing yards (-115)

Prop bet #3: Turnover prone

But that's not the only place Prescott may provide some value for bettors. His interception line seems mispriced given his interception rate as of late.

Prescott's Under 0.5 interceptions prop is priced at just -113 despite the fact that he threw an interception in 10 of his 12 games last year. That is not a typo, that is legitimately how poorly Prescott took care of the ball in the air last year.

And during camp this year, there were seemingly videos and tweets of Prescott throwing an interception during literally every practice.

On top of that, the New York Giants have had Prescott’s number as of late. They have snagged five interceptions in the last five games against Dak and boast an even more talented defense this year.

Dak Prescott prop: Over 0.5 interceptions (-113)
