Best Week 12 first TD picks
First TD prop bet #1: Amon-Ra St. Brown
Best odds: +600 at BetMGM
Death, taxes, and Amon-Ra St Brown scoring touchdowns. The Detroit Lions wideout has had another stellar year and has already scored nine times. What’s most impressive is that he’s scoring in eight straight games. He’s very consistent and our play to open the scoring at the Lions meet the Indianapolis Colts.
There are plenty of weapons in Detroit, with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery also in the mix to open the scoring, but knowing that St Brown is on such a streak, he has to be the choice. With the Lions being favorites by over a score, swerving a Colt to open the scoring makes sense.
First TD prop bet #2: Travis Kelce
Best odds: +700 at bet365
With the Kansas City Chiefs facing a road trip to battle the Carolina Panthers, we need to wager on a visiting player scoring the game's opening touchdown. The Chiefs will be fired up for vengeance after losing their first game of the season last week and are 11-point favorites over the 3-7 Panthers.
Isiah Pacheco's return casts doubt over who in the backfield could score first. Will it be Pacheco or Kareem Hunt? So we’re going to take Travis Kelce. It’s not been a vintage year for him with just two touchdowns, but those have both come in the last month, and the Panthers have given up seven touchdowns to tight ends this season, tied for the most in the NFL.
First TD prop bet #3: Bucky Irving
Best odds: +800 at bet365
Trying to predict the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backfield is a tough ask, with the team still using Rachaad White in a committee with Bucky Irving, despite Irving being superior in nearly every aspect, outside of the passing game. Todd Bowles has admitted that Irving “probably” deserves more touches, which is good news after turning 13 carries and three catches into a touchdown in his last game.
Given the soap opera around the New York Giants quarterback situation this season, which’s seen them slide from one-point ‘dogs to six, we’re taking a Bucs player, and Irving makes the most sense. He’s been better than White all season, and Mike Evans, despite being an obvious threat, might be on a snap count following his return from injury. Back Bucky!
