The Detroit Lions will try to reach their first Super Bowl in franchise history on Sunday when they visit the San Francisco 49ers in Conference Championship odds.

Rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs has played a huge role in getting the Lions this far, and has seen his usage become even more important in the postseason. While Super Bowl odds have San Francisco as the clear favorite to head to Las Vegas, Gibbs is a weapon that could change the outcome in the blink of an eye.

We’ll look at a few ways in which that could happen in my NFL player prop picks for Jahmyr Gibbs' odds.

Jahmyr Gibbs NFC Championship prop pick

Over 74.5 rushing and receiving yards (-108)

After an outstanding 2022 season with Alabama, running back Jahmyr Gibbs was chosen 12th overall in the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions in 2023. The rookie has already done more than enough to reward Detroit for that pick, as Gibbs paired up with David Montgomery to create one of the most effective backfield duos in the NFL this season.

Gibbs finished the year with 945 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns. He also showed flashes of being able to contribute in the passing game, catching 52 balls for 316 yards and another score.

However, it’s become clear that the Lions are looking to emphasize Gibbs and his ability to catch the ball even more in the postseason. In two playoff appearances, Gibbs has totaled eight catches for 83 yards while also scoring on the ground against both the Rams and Buccaneers.

Gibbs may still be splitting the carries with Montgomery, but it’s clear that he has been making the most of the touches he does get. The rookie has totaled at least 75 yards from scrimmage in eight of his last 15 games, eclipsing 100 yards on six of those occasions.

That’s the kind of production that Detroit will need if the Lions are going to have any chance of beating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Not only should Gibbs be able to get some yardage on the ground, but he’ll provide a valuable outlet for Jared Goff — something the quarterback will need in the face of the fearsome San Francisco pass rush.

I love Gibbs' combined yardage prop, which has been set in the 70s at most sportsbooks. Let’s look for the Lions star to pick up yards for Detroit, one way or another, and play the Over.

Jahmyr Gibbs NFC Championship same-game parlay

Over 74.5 rushing and receiving yards

Over 3.5 receptions

Anytime touchdown

30% boost available

There are a couple of other bets that correlate well with our best bet, which is exactly what we’re looking for in a same-game parlay.

Gibbs should fair well on short passes out of the backfield. In each of the first two postseason games for the Lions, Goff has found Gibbs four times, and the rookie RB reached 4+ receptions in nine games during the regular season. Given the role I see for him, the Over on Gibbs’ receptions total of 3.5 feels like a no-brainer here.

We'll finish off this SGP by backing the first-rounder to find paydirt. Gibbs has scored in each of the two playoff games and picked up touchdowns in four of his last five regular season appearances as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
