NFL Parlay and Teaser Picks Week 14

You know the saying "football is a game of inches?" Well, that applies to football betting as well, as the Covers staff's clean-across-the-board losses last week was inches (well, three yards, to be specific) away from having one person claim victory.

Luckily for the crew, those missing three yards are what kept current leader Jared Hochman from hitting another parlay - and putting this competition nearly out of reach. But as we hit Week 14 of betting on NFL odds – or blindly throwing darts, in the case of current basement-dweller Patrick Everson – every inch and yard is going to count so much more.

Hochman's nearly six-unit lead means that we're going to see more hail mary parlays and teasers down the stretch. Will there be a DeAndre Hopkins, Jeff Janis or Richard Rodgers there to catch glory for our Covers competitors? Or will their sports betting prayers end up looking like this sorry excuse of a desperation attempt?

Atlanta and L.A. have been playing defense recently like a flimsy kitchen door trying to stop a rampaging rottweiler, Denver and Carolina can score, and Baltimore and Cleveland are starting to find their stride.

Sit back with your moose mugs full of eggnog, check your tree for squirrels and make sure your crazy in-law isn’t dumping sewage into your storm drain!

Rolling out a four-team, six-point teaser to snap a skid of unsuccessful accumulators in recent weeks. As is the best policy when moving points with teasers, I’m busting through a bunch of key numbers by making some big faves shorter and some short dogs bigger: Kansas City -1, Philadelphia +12.5, Green Bay -1.5, Pittsburgh +8.5.

NFL Parlay Picks Week 14

Took a shot at closing in on first place last week and it failed…miserably. This week, there are four favored road teams that I think all win. Earlier in the season, I probably would have made this a moneyline parlay, but with ground to make up, I’m using alt spreads to bring each one down to -3.

One of our esteemed colleagues recently referenced the definition of insanity in one of these write-ups, and it came as a very timely reminder to me to quit doing the same shit and expecting different results. We've been getting throttled on spreads the past few weeks, let's hope in vain that the Over/Under market will be more merciful.

Let’s go with Aaron Rodgers to pile up the touchdowns against the Lions, D.K. Metcalf to torch the Jets and Keenan Allen to snack on some Dirty Bird. Finger-lickin' good.

The NOLA defense is not going to give up 10 points to Jalen Hurts. The Panthers hopefully get Moore and Samuel back and roll over the league's worst offense. The Minny passing game is hot and Tampa should be worrying about a win and not 6.5 points.

The Bills were inexplicably underdogs last week but now they're faves against the 11-1 Steelers. Something seems off. The Saints have proven that they don't need Drew Brees to win games or cover spreads. And Derrick Henry and the Titans should once again run over a Jaguars team that they are 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS against in the last seven meetings.

I may never win another one of these again. But here we go with Week 14. Titans +7.5 at Jaguars. Tennessee bounces back from last week's loss. Chiefs -7.5 at Dolphins. Patrick Mahomes shows Tua Tagovailoa what it's all about. 49ers -3 vs WFT. I see a letdown for Washington, having to follow its stunning upset at Pittsburgh with a road trip to Phoenix to play against San Francisco. What a screwy year!
