Packers vs 49ers props
Prop bet #1: Keeping Up with the Joneses
Following an injury-riddled regular season, Aaron Jones started his playoffs with a monstrous performance against the Cowboys. The seventh-year back tallied 118 yards and had a whopping three touchdowns in the Wild Card upset.
On Saturday, however, Jones may find it harder to find success on the ground as the 49ers allow the second-fewest rushing yards to opposing running backs.
Luckily for the Green Bay Packers, Jones has been one of the league's most capable running backs in the passing game, running his fair share of downfield routes on top of the plethora of short-area patterns. The San Francisco 49ers might be the perfect opponent to try that against, as they allow the eighth-most receiving yards to opposing running backs on a per-game basis.
Aaron Jones prop: Over 17.5 receiving yards (-114 at FanDuel)
Prop bet #2: Need for Reed
Speaking of spots where the San Francisco defense may be soft, the Niners' have been particularly poor at covering wide receivers in the red zone. They have allowed the third most fantasy points per game (which would serve as a benchmark metric for total production) to the position in that area of the field.
Second-round rookie Jayden Reed put together a quietly great regular season among his receiver class, ranking sixth in yards and tied for first in total touchdowns. The market is currently overlooking the wide receiver's potential value, especially in the aftermath of last week's game where he was held without any receptions on just three targets.
The magic of player props is sometimes zigging when a player has zagged recently, and given his plus matchup against the Niners' porous secondary (at least, in the red zone), we should see the multi-faceted weapon find the endzone in this matchup more often than not.
Jayden Reed prop: Anytime touchdown (+190 at DraftKings)
Prop bet #3: Believe in Brandon
Brandon Aiyuk may not be the flashiest or sexiest receiver, but his refined technical skills have netted him his best year yet. He amassed 75 receptions for 1,342 yards this year across 16 games and was awarded with a second-team All-Pro designation for his efforts.
On Saturday, he will likely line up across from former All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander, who has had more than his fair share of shutdown performances against some of the league's best receivers over the years.
However, Alexander may come into this game as a shell of his true self. The corner was limited in practice this week with an ankle injury and was completely absent from Wednesday and Thursday's practices.
A bum ankle is arguably the worst injury to carry when facing off against one of the league's best route runners.
Brandon Aiyuk prop: Over 4.5 receptions (-115 at bet365)
