The Super Bowl odds are set, with a rematch from two years ago as the Philadelphia Eagles face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans.

Philly crushed the Washington Commanders in the NFC title game, while Kansas City hung on to defeat the Buffalo Bills in another classic Mahomes/Allen rivalry.

The opening Super Bowl 59 lines had Kansas City at -1, with a flat 48 total, but those numbers quickly moved to Chiefs -2 and an Over/Under of 49.5.

Super Bowl odds analysis

Caesars posted the spread at Kansas City -1, with a -120 moneyline, and a total of 48 — the best opening numbers for Chiefs backers and those looking at the Over.

Those numbers quickly were gone, as the spread shifted to 1.5 and now sits at -2, while the total jumped up to 50 before ticking down a half-point to 49.5.

Here are some betting insights into the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles this season:

  • Heading into the NFC title game, the Eagles were 12-7-0 against the spread. Philly covered 63.2% of the time.
  • Kansas City did not fare as well ATS, going 8-10-0 ahead of Sunday’s AFC title game. The Chiefs covered 44.4% of the time.
  • Over bettors did not exactly love the Eagles this season. Philly games went Over the total eight times and went Under the number 11 times.
  • Kansas City games were not great either for points lovers. Chiefs games went Over the projected total seven times and went Under 11 times.

Chiefs vs Eagles history

Storylines are plentiful whenever these two franchises meet. The main attraction, of course, is Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who served as the Eagles HC from 1999-2012.

The Eagles and Chiefs most recently squared off on Monday, November 20, 2023. Philadelphia went into K.C. and emerged with a 21-17 victory. The Philly defense limited Patrick Mahomes to just 177 yards passing. DeVonta Smith had a big day receiving for the Eagles with six grabs for 99 yards.

Philadelphia and Kansas City also faced one another earlier that calendar year in a game with far more significance — The Big Game. The Chiefs bested the Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl 57, where Mahomes led a thrilling Chiefs comeback, highlighted by two fourth-quarter TD passes.

Kansas City leads the all-time series against the Eagles, 6-5.
