Titans vs Colts Predictions, Picks, and Best Bets for NFL Week 16

Jones' best bet: Although the Indianapolis Colts playoff hopes were all but dashed last week, they are still the better team and will pull away from the Titans in this one.

Two teams mostly just playing for pride will collide in Week 16 when the 3-11 Tennessee Titans travel up north to take on the 6-8 Indianapolis Colts.

Although the Colts' playoff hopes ended last week in a loss to the Denver Broncos, they are 5-1 against teams with losing records this season. As a result, my Titans vs. Colts predictions expect an easy win against a Tennessee side that has dropped three straight.

Find out why in my NFL picks for Sunday, December 22. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, with the game airing on FOX.

Titans vs Colts prediction

Titans vs Colts spread prediction

The Colts opened as 4.5-point favorites, but the spread has fallen to 3.5, as of Friday afternoon.

The Colts won an ugly game over the Titans back in Week 6, 20-17, on the road. However, that game was Joe Flacco vs Will Levis and this time we will see Anthony Richardson vs Mason Rudolph.

I believe the quarterback changes are heavily in favor of the Colts in this matchup, and they will cover this spread.

Titans vs Colts moneyline prediction

I clearly am backing the Colts moneyline since I am on the Colts to cover the spread as a favorite at home.

The move to Rudolph at quarterback is not one that sparks any sort of confidence in the Titans here. He is 1-2 as a starter this season and has only six touchdowns to five interceptions. He may be a little safer with the ball than Levis, but his ceiling is also much lower as a playmaker.

I like the Colts to win with a score around 24-10.

Titans vs Colts Over/Under prediction

These two teams combined for only 37 points and 510 total yards in their matchup back in October. The Colts offense ranks 23rd in scoring and 22nd in total yards. The Titans rank 27th in both scoring and total yards.

My score prediction is 34 total points, well below the total of 42.5.

My best bet
Colts -3.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

My analysis

The Indianapolis Colts defense did their part last week to keep their playoff hopes alive, but a couple of crucial mistakes by the offense led to the wheels falling off in the 4th quarter last week. First, Jonathan Taylor dropped the ball early before crossing the goal line in what would have made the game 20-7 in favor of the Colts.

Then, they decided to run a trick play after going down 17-13 early in the 4th and that trick play was sniffed out with ease and led to a 50-yard defensive touchdown by the Broncos. So, while the Colts allowed 31 points, it was really their own mistakes on offense that caused that and not the defense.

The Tennessee Titans only put up 10, 14, and 20 points in Rudolph’s three starts this season. Also, there is a possibility that the Titans could be without Tony Pollard, who left last week early with an ankle injury. He missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday and is listed as questionable.

If the Titans are down Pollard, I just cannot see them putting up any sort of offense in this contest. Meanwhile, Anthony Richardson should be able to find plenty of running room against a Titans defense that struggles with scrambling quarterbacks. The Titans have allowed the sixth most scramble yards to quarterbacks in the NFL this season.

The Colts playoffs hope may be over, but I do not think you will see them just fade away this week. Richardson is still playing for his position as franchise quarterback as there are several questions around his passing ability. I think the Colts get an easy win this weekend.

Titans vs Colts same-game parlay

Colts -3.5

Anthony Richardson Over 46.5 rushing yards

Anthony Richardson anytime touchdown

To go along with the Colts covering, I am going to throw in a couple of player props. To start, I am rolling with Anthony Richardson to go Over his rushing total. Not only will Richardson be able to successfully scramble against this defense as we mentioned previously, but he will also get several designed runs in this offense.

Finally, I will add Richardson to also find the endzone with his legs. The Titans have allowed 16 rushing touchdowns this season. Richardson has five rushing touchdowns this year, which is the same as Taylor and yet he has better odds than Taylor.
