Vikings vs Bears MNF Prop Bets: Cousins-Osborn Connection Strikes Gold in Chicago

With Adam Thielen's status uncertain, expect K.J. Osborn to pick up the slack and be a prime end zone target for Kirk Cousins against the Bears. We like his chances at reeling in a TD, plus Jason Logan highlights a couple of other prop bets for MNF.

Vikings vs Bears MNF props

Another Bears game. Another first-quarter Under.

Chicago is notorious for slow starts and we’re going to ride this derivative team total until the wheels fall off. The Bears rank 30th in first-quarter production, averaging just 2.3 points in the opening 15 minutes this season. Over its last seven contests, Chicago has just six points total in the first quarter and has been shut out in five of those initial stanzas.

Minnesota is a much quicker starter in terms of 1Q production but hasn’t allowed foes to find their footing in the first frame, giving up only 3.1 1Q points per game (fifth lowest) and shutting out their last two foes in the opening quarter. In fact, the Vikings sit No. 5 in 1Q Defense DVOA at Football Outsiders.

On top of that, the game-time temperatures in Chicago are forecasted in the “feels like” range of 26 degrees, which could have both teams chilly and tight in the opening minutes of action at Soldier Field.

PICK: Chicago Under 1Q Team Total 2.5 (+120 at DraftKings)

With Vikings standout WR Adam Thielen a question mark for Monday, fellow wideout K.J. Osborn could continue to see increased targets – especially against a depleted Chicago secondary. The Bears pass defense is decimated by COVID with the entire first team out for Week 15 and just a handful of healthy bodies able to roam the defensive backfield.

Osborn has been lightly used in the Vikings offense this season but has been targeted 16 times for seven catches, 130 yards, and two touchdowns the past two games. The 5-foot-11 speedster is a home run threat, as evidenced by his 62-yard TD strike against the Steelers last week.

Expect Kirk Cousins to test the wheels on the Bears’ replacements in the secondary by giving Osborn the green light for deep strikes. Minnesota has 51 passing plays of 20 or more yards (sixth) and we like K.J. to hit another dinger on MNF.

PICK: K.J. Osborn touchdown scorer (+200 at Bet365)

With the Chicago stop unit ravaged by COVID, the Bears are going to have to play defense on offense. That means plenty of runs to keep the clock ticking and limit the amount of time Minnesota gets with the football.

At the center of that philosophy is RB David Montgomery, who can pick up gains on the ground or through the air. The shifty back has 178 yards rushing on 48 carries and 118 yards receiving on 17 catches over the past three games.

The Vikings defense allows 4.7 yards per carry to opponents (second-most), sits 26th in Run Defense DVOA at Football Outsiders, and gives up an EPA per rush of + 0.002 (second-worst) along with a 42.2% success rate on running plays to opponents.

The last time Montgomery faced Minnesota, he rumbled for 146 yards on 32 attempts, including two touchdowns. He’ll see a similar workload in Week 15.

PICK: David Montgomery Over 59.5 Rushing Yards (-110 at Bet365)
