Are you ready for some football? A Tuesday night party?? Washington vs Eagles Week 15 props
Smith torches Washington's secondary
Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith hasn't done much in either of his last two contests, catching just two passes in back-to-back games against the Jets and Giants. That snapped a three-game streak where he saw at least six targets and posted over 60 yards receiving.
The 10th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft still leads the team with 82 targets, 50 catches, and 701 receiving yards on the season and should get more looks today against a Washington defense that gets torched through the air.
WFT allows the third-most passing yards per game (259.1) and ranks 27th in the league in defensive pass DVOA according to Football Outsiders. Washington actually defends the pass fairly well against tight ends and running backs but tends to get burned out wide. That problem could be exacerbated with starting cornerback Kendall Fuller and safety Kamren Curl both on the COVID-19 list. Take the Over on Smith's receiving yards total.
PICK: DeVonta Smith Over 47.5 receiving yards (-115 at DraftKings)
Miles to go before I sleep
Philly running back Miles Sanders is coming off his best game of the season, rumbling for 120 yards on 24 carries against the Jets. That said, he might be in line for a lighter workload on Tuesday as he plays through an ankle injury.
Philly has plenty of depth at running back with Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott in the rotation along with Jordan Howard, who makes his return after missing a month with a knee injury. Howard is averaging 12.8 carries per game in four contests this season and will almost certainly cut into Sanders' snaps.
The Eagles are scheduled to play again in five days, so head coach Nick Sirianni might be reluctant to give too many handoffs to Sanders, especially when banged up. Look for a limited role to keep Sanders Under his rushing yards total.
PICK: Miles Sanders Under 56.5 rushing yards (-110 at William Hill)
Gilbert goose-egg
Washington will be without starting quarterback Taylor Heinicke and backup Kyle Allen in this contest. While neither of those guys is going to be mistaken for Tom Brady, they at least have a decent amount of pro experience and are comfortable with their teammates.
When both of those passers were added to the COVID-19 list last Friday, Washington coach Ron Rivera signed Garrett Gilbert from the Patriots practice squad to take over the starting gig. Gilbert is familiar with Rivera's system after a couple of years under him in Carolina but he won't be on the same page as his receivers and third-string center Keith Ismael.
Three days of practice isn't anywhere near enough time for that, especially heading into a hostile environment like Lincoln Field. Expect that lack of chemistry to be exposed in the early going as Gilbert struggles to get in sync with his new teammates. Bet on Washington to fail to score in the first quarter.
PICK: WFT first quarter team total Under 0.5 (-120 at Bet365)
