I was feeling pretty damn good about hitting my Week 1 teaser after the Las Vegas Raiders took care of their leg vs. the Denver Broncos. But sadly, the Dallas Cowboys crashed the party and viciously put me out of my misery early. As a result of that humiliating loss by the New York Giants, this article is off to a 0-1 start, but bounce-back season is here!
If you’re new to this article, here’s how it works: I rank my five favorite teaser legs of the week and the top two are my official teaser bet. I follow basic teaser strategy of crossing as many key numbers as possible while never teasing through zero.
Let’s get into the Week 2 teaser action with my NFL picks!

Week 2 Teaser
49ers (-8 to -2) vs Rams
Getting the San Francisco 49ers inside of a field goal vs. a clearly inferior opponent is a beautiful spot. The Los Angeles Rams’ Week 1 win over the Seahawks was impressive, but that might be the best game they play all season. The 49ers were perhaps the most impressive team to start the season, but that’s the norm for them — we knew they were that good entering the season.
I also like this spot because San Francisco is healthy. This team typically gets bit hard by the injury bug, and I’m sure that’s coming later this season, but all the big dogs are healthy right now. I also like that Brock Purdy picked up exactly where he left off last season before he got injured.
Finally, Kyle Shanahan owns Sean McVay. He's 9-3 straight up and against the spread against him, including wins of 16 and 15 last season. Let’s also keep in mind that most of those Rams teams during the head-to-heads were much better versions than the 2023 edition.
Ravens (+3.5 to +9.5) vs Bengals
There’s a lot of focus on the injuries to the Baltimore Ravens in the build-up to this game, which is warranted, but what about Joe Burrow’s calf? The Cincinnati Bengals QB was god-awful vs. the Browns in Week 1 where he threw for just 82 yards, resulting in just three points. After the game, he said his calf was “good enough,” but he clearly wasn’t himself. Cleveland blitzed him heavily — on 41.2% of dropbacks — so expect another heavy dose of pressure from a Baltimore defense coming off a five-sack performance in Week 1.
The Ravens lost two of three games to the Bengals last season, but they were competitive in all three. In the two losses, they were without Lamar Jackson but still won the yards-per-play battle in each game.
The Ravens are also on a ridiculous run that’s seen them go 18-3-1 ATS in their last 22 games as an underdog. Expect a tight game.

Best Week 2 teaser spots
- 49ers (-8 to -2)
- Ravens (+3.5 to +9.5)
- Eagles vs. Vikings (-7 to -1)
- Titans vs. Chargers (+3 to +9)
- Steelers vs. Browns (+2.5 to +8.5)
The Philadelphia Eagles almost broke into my top picks this week, but some injuries in their secondary and a short-week game early in the season scared me away. Still, getting them down to a single point at home is a nice-looking spot. This isn’t an easy team to knock off when Jalen Hurts is on the field as they went 14-1 in the 2022 regular season with him as the starter. Their offense averaged 7.1 yards per play in a game vs. the Vikings last season and I expect much of the same vs. a Minnesota defense that could take some time to find its footing under Brian Flores.
The Tennessee Titans play ugly, which often leads to tight games. This was the case in Week 1 where they lost by a point to the Saints despite three turnovers from Ryan Tannehill and going 2-for-12 on third down. The Chargers and Titans played fairly recently — a Week 15 matchup last season the Chargers won 17-14 thanks to a field goal with 44 seconds left on the clock. Tennessee has also made a habit of playing up to the competition as it's gone 14-6-1 ATS with outright wins in 11 of their last 21 games as an underdog.
We’ve got a classic teaser spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers where we cross them through the key numbers of three and seven. This one is all about not overreacting to what we saw in Week 1. Yes, the Steelers were humiliated, but outlier performances in Week 1 are nothing new and that’ll be the worst game they play all season. While the Browns might be a competitive team, I’m not giving them too much credit for beating up on a Bengals team that’s building a pattern of getting off to poor starts.
All the best with your Week 2 teaser bets, unless you’re going against me! See you again in Week 3 where we’ll hopefully all be celebrating a winning week.
