NFL fans and bettors will be treated to a potential track meet when the Detroit Lions visit the Minnesota Vikings in the early window of Week 7.
My NFL picks have devised a three-leg SGP focusing on top-notch quarterback play being the prevailing theme on October 20.
Don't forget to check out our Lions vs. Vikings predictions ahead of gametime. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, with the game airing on FOX.
Lions vs Vikings SGP for NFL Week 7
- Sam Darnold Over 1.5 passing TDs
- Jared Goff 250+ passing yards
- Amon-Ra St. Brown anytime TD
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold started the season with four straight multi-touchdown games, but that streak was ended by the stingy New York Jets defense in London back in Week 5. My Lions vs. Vikings predictions will back Darnold to get back on the beam following a bye.
The Detroit Lions have proven beatable through the air this season, ranking 27th in passing yards allowed per game. The Lions are a much more respectable eighth in yards allowed per attempt, but I expect Darnold to have a busy day with lead tailback Aaron Jones considered questionable to play in any capacity.
The Vikings have just three rushing touchdowns all year, and with Jones likely to be less than 100%, I see Minnesota eschewing the ground-and-pound approach in close.
Jared Goff has hit the 250-yard passing plateau in three of his last four games, and 10 of his last 12 overall dating back to last season. That includes two Overs vs. the Vikings in which he averaged 288.5 passing yards. In fact, Goff has crossed 250 passing yards in five straight meetings with Minnesota.
If Goff is rolling, then expect Amon-Ra St. Brown to find paydirt. The Lions' No. 1 wide-out has scored a touchdown in three straight games and found the end zone in both contests vs. the Vikings last year.
St. Brown's receiving yards Over (75.5) is a tempting add considering he crossed the century mark twice vs. Minnesota in 2023-24, but the TD prop makes the three-leg SGP a much more robust +530 instead of +333.
