NFL Wild Card Weather & Odds: Don't Expect Much Beyond Cold Temps

While you'll see your typical cold temperatures, don't expect Mother Nature to have a huge impact on this weekend's Wild Card action.

Luckily for those fans in the stands, the weather for “Wild” Card Weekend won’t live up to the hype.

Sure, it’s going to be cold in some of these outdoor venues, but in terms of disruptive elements, Mother Nature is taking it easy on your NFL picks to open the playoffs.

Here’s my NFL Wild Card weather report.

Steelers at Ravens weather

Standard East Coast cold awaits the third matchup between these AFC North foes. Temperatures will be below freezing and “feel like” the mid-teens, thanks to a little wind inside M&T Bank Stadium.

Sustained winds of 9 mph will blow WNW from corner to corner, with gusts flirting with 20 mph. Morning snowfall should clear by the afternoon, leaving nothing but a crisp Maryland night sky above this heated rivalry.

The total opened as high as 46.5 and is down to 43 points.

Broncos at Bills weather

Orchard Park will be humming for this Wild Card contest, with temperatures expected at a balmy 30 degrees for this 1 p.m. ET kickoff. That’s pretty warm, considering the weather we’ve seen in Buffalo in recent postseasons.

Winds will blow SW at sustained speeds of 8 mph, with gusts topping out at 13 mph, moving corner to corner at Highmark Stadium. Some forecasts are calling for a chance of light snow in the afternoon, but nothing that should impact this outcome.

As for the dreaded lake effect snow, bettors should be clear of any impromptu squalls with temperatures cold enough to freeze over Lake Erie and winds not whipping the white stuff off the surface of the water.

This total hit the board at 47 points and has been up and down half a point throughout the week.

Packers at Eagles weather

Philadelphia’s forecast calls for temperatures close to 40 degrees for this 4:25 p.m. ET start, with the mercury dropping as the sun sets over Lincoln Financial Field. Temperatures will feel like the mid-20s in the second half of Sunday’s game.

Sustained winds of 7 mph will reach gusts up to 17 mph, blowing west from corner to corner, getting a little stronger in the final 30 minutes. Again, nothing that will truly influence the outcome or the NFL odds.

The Over/Under was as high as 47.5 but has dropped to 45 points.

Commanders at Buccaneers weather

Who doesn’t want a trip to Florida in January?

Raymond James Stadium has a 100% chance of cannon fire for this Sunday's primetime pairing between two explosive offenses. The weather won’t hinder those high-octane attacks either.

Temperatures in Tampa will be in the mid-50s, with sustained winds of 5 mph moving north, with gusts only getting up to 13 mph and barely blowing corner to corner at the Pirate Ship.

This is the tallest total on the Wild Card board, opening at 49.5 and climbing to 50.5 points.
